Gluten Free Ireland Launches Food Service Distribution

Gluten Free Ireland, the leading database of hospitality venues for people with Coeliac disease and gluten intolerance in Northern Ireland and Ireland has launched a food distribution service for venues catering to gluten free customers.

The new division will give hospitality venue owners and chefs an exclusively gluten free catalogue to work from, making menu design cheaper and safer. With new products being added regularly, the current offering of almost one hundred gluten free products covers the main staples such as pasta, condiments and flavourings, areas often containing the gluten allergen.

The launch of the service is an exciting new development in the continued growth of the family run business. Michael Thompson, Marketing Director: “The company has seen a huge growth in gluten free living since it first launched the website back in 2010. We now provide information to tourists from around the world as well our own communities with the website and guide book reaching tens of thousands every year. Our support and education of venues offering gluten free menu options has continued to grow and our gluten free open day, hosting producers and retailers for the public, is running four times per year instead of once. With a catalogue of artisan and international producers already on board it was a natural step to connect them with the chefs and venues cooking the gluten free foods through a distribution service. Our new trade website will allow venues to order from an exclusively gluten free catalogue, making sourcing and converting menus easy and safe.”

Gluten Free Ireland was started by husband and wife team, Derek and Christina Thompson from their home in Ballynahinch in 2010. Since then built by their son Michael, has become one of the best known and most active communities for people with Coeliac disease in Northern Ireland and Ireland. In 2015 they launched a second website, Coeliacs R Us along with a weekly cookery show and a food distribution company, providing gluten free food to the catering industry.
