Counties Join Together to Offer Flood Relief
Howard County Business & Tourism and the Cresco Area Chamber of Commerce announces a partnership with the Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation, United Way and the regional chambers and economic development organizations in Allamakee, Fayette, and Winneshiek counties to raise money for victims impacted by the recent flooding. Individuals and businesses interested in donating to the fund, can send their cash/check to the locations below. All proceeds raised will be directly given back to flood victims.
Monetary donations are being accepted at each of the participating partner organizations. NEICAC is serving as the fiscal agent for all five counties. Checks should be made to NEICAC Flood Relief with the designated county in the memo line. Donations will be accepted beginning Wednesday, August 31st. Contributions to NEICAC are tax deductible.
“Each county’s needs vary significantly and people are looking for ways they can help those directly impacted. This program allows for the ability to do that in a trusted manner.” Nikki Brevig, Executive Director of the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce and project lead said. “It also provides the flexibility for each county to distribute the funds to the victims in their areas and for donors to select where they would like to provide relief.”
Those impacted by flooding can begin submitting applications beginning September 1. Donations and applications are available at the following locations or online at crescochamber.com or howard-county.com.
