FOP LODGE 24- MATT HERZOG MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP—
The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge 24 has established a Memorial Education Fund in the memory of Deputy Matt Herzog. Matt was a five- year veteran of the Whatcom County Sheriff’sOffice. Mattmade the ultimate sacrifice, while in the line of duty, in 2001. To honor his service and devotion to law enforcement the FOP Lodge 24 is proud to announce a scholarship for those wishing to pursue a career in law enforcement or criminal justice.
The Award
There will be one, non-renewable, $2000 scholarship available this year. The applicant must be attending, or enrolled in, an accredited Washington State College or University on a full time basis for the 2017-2018 academic year. The applicant must be pursuing a career in, or related to, law enforcement.
Application Process:
The candidate shall submit the following with the application:
Two letters of recommendation (See application form for source information)
A 500-word(min) essay on “How I can make a difference in Law Enforcement”
High school transcript,or if already in college, both high school and college transcripts.
Oral interviews may be required depending upon the number of applicants.
Application and Award Dates
Acceptance of applications will be open March 1, 2017 and close on May 30, 2017.
The FOP Scholarship Committee will award scholarships in September of each year.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Scholarships will be issued to the recipient’s selected college for use in tuition and/or related college fees upon proof of full-time enrollment
