FOOD SERVICE PROCEDURES

Food on Campus ‐

All events that include food and or beverage as part of the event need to coordinate the food and or beverage items with Instructional Food Service. Please call our Hospitality Coordinator @ ext. 26435 for assistance.

Catering ‐

Instructional Food Service has the right of first refusal for catering food and beverage on campus. The Instructional Food Service will make every effort to be competitive in cost and selection. If Instructional Food Service declines the request for food and or beverage service, please follow procedures out‐lined in Outside Catering below.

Outside Catering

Due to liability and health department issues, any Food or Beverage brought from off campus needs approval from Thomas Selzer, General Manager of Instructional Food Service prior to use as well as the event supervisor, manager or the division dean.

You must also submit the following:

•A Special Events Application form needs to be completed and turned in for signature at a minimum of 5 business days prior to the event. (Form can be picked up at the ASOCC office)

•A listing of food‐catered items is required.

•A Certificate of Insurance evidencing a minimum of one million dollars of comprehensive general liability coverage under an insurance policy and an endorsement naming the District as additional insured is required from the caterer or food and beverage provider as suggested by District Risk Services. The exceptionto the insurance requirement is pre-packaged food and beverage.

•Outline of hand wash station with paper towels.

•Outline of how food will be kept at the proper food holding temperatures.

•No sign off or approval for food will be given until event is board approved.

•No sign off or approval for food will be given until club advisor has signed the Special Events Application form. (Only if it is a club sponsored event).

•No sign off or approval for food will be given until Facility RentalForm has been complete and the above requirements are met(Only for food events when a facility is rented).

There is no selling of food on campus other than by the Instructional Food Service Operation; all food contracts from any outside company need to go through the General Manager of Instructional Food Services. Exceptions for this policy includes Club Rush, clubs must speak with MikeMorvice for details.

Pot­Luck ‐ Due to food safety and health department requirements, it is campus procedure that any (official) event on campus does not include the use of “pot‐luck” or food items that are prepared at home.
