3.0TOOLS and equipment

Use the following tools and equipment for this test procedure:

  • Pulser Test Box PN:60201
  • RS-485 Communication Cable
  • Laptop Computer with Com Port

4.0SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

Use all common work shop safety procedures, practices and equipment, such as safety glasses, latex gloves, and protective shoes.

5.0QUICK STEPS

None

6.0PROCEDURES

All steps in the procedure that require a technician’s initials on the Quality Check-off Sheet are designated with at the end of that procedure step.

The Flow Motion Control assembly is shown in Figure 1.

6.1TEST

6.1.1Visual Inspection

6.1.1.1Visually inspect the motion control for:

Any defects in the wiring

Loose hardware

Verify the cable strain relief is locked down and onto the cable correctly

Verify the connector strainrelief is screwed on tight and strain relief is tight onto cable

Verify all connector pins are fully seated and locked into place

Verify all board header connectors are tight to their mating connectors

6.1.1.2Spin the motor to verify nothing is binding.

6.1.2Test Box & Computer Interface Connections

6.1.2.1Connect the motion control to the test box using the ‘Blue’ Flow MC and Flowstat 2 cable. While holding the Motion Control, turn on the test box to power up the Motion Control. Run the APS Boot Program (Red Icon for Flow MC). If communication does not start immediately, start the communication with the motion control by pressing the “Stop Pulser” button. Click the “Ini” tab to get to the .ini page.

6.1.3Software

Figure 2: Ini Page

6.1.3.1Figure 2 Shows the information on the welcome screen for the Motion Control module. For your tracking, it displays the Main Program Version and PCB Serial Number.

6.1.3.2The Flow MC is configurable to run a 4 Blade or 8 Blade Pulser. There are different ‘.ini’ settings which can be put into the software in order for them to operate properly. Check the Mechanical Assembly you will be using the motion control with, and set up the Following.

Figure 3 as shown below is the proper parameter setup for 4 Blade Pulser operation.

Note: You may adjust the Pulse and Wind-up Count a few numbers to assure full open and close operation with your mechanical assembly.

Figure 3: Ini Files with 4 Blade Mechanical Assembly

6.1.3.3Refer to Figures below for settings for the 8 Blade Mechanical Assembly. Like the 4 blade, the Pulse and Wind Up Count can be adjusted to match the mechanical assembly.

Figure 4: 8 Blade Pulser .ini Settings

6.1.3.4Verify in the status window that settings entered were successful.

6.1.3.5Enter .ini information into TP-10399.

6.1.3.6Close the program

6.1.3.7Re-open the APS Boot program, enter the password, stop pulser, Ini tab, get Ini, verify the S/N is correct. Verify unit information was retained.

6.1.3.8Click Start Pulser.

6.1.3.9Click Close Program and pulse the unit several times with button.

6.1.4High Temp Thermal Cycling Profile

6.1.4.1These units require thermal cycling to ensure durability. This involves thermal cycling 5 times up to 175 degrees Celsius with the following profile:

-20 deg C to + 175 deg C at a ramp rate of 3-5 deg C per minute with dwells of 30 minutes at low and high temperature.

(APS CT can use the profile “5 cycle 175 C” in the Envirotronics oven.)

6.1.4.2Power up the motion control after each thermal cycle and at each temperature extreme (-20 C & +175 C) to make sure it still operates (motor will spin when pulse button is pushed).
