60% = MHR x .6
80% = MHR x .8
Example: Lori is 13 years old. What would her MHR, 60%, and 80% target heart rate training zones be?
220 – 13 = 207 (MHR)
207 x .6 = 124 beats per minute (BPM) at 60%
207 x .8 = 166 beats per minute (BPM) at 80 %
Lori should try to keep her heart rate between 124 (60%) and 166 (80%) beats per minute when exercising.
