  1. What is the purpose of the FY 2009TSP?

The purpose of the FY 2009TSPis to adopt and implement security measures outlined in the Transportation Security Administration’s voluntary security action items for transporting Tier I Highway Security Sensitive Materials. Additionally, the TSP will provide funding to develop a system for DHS to monitor, collect and analyze tracking information; and develop plans to improve the effectiveness of transportation and distribution of supplies and commodities during catastrophic events. In doing so, the TSP will help strengthen the nation’s critical infrastructure against risks associated with potential terrorist attacks.

The total amount of funds distributed under the FY 2009 TSP will be $7.8 million.

  1. Who is eligible to apply for FY 2009TSPfunds?

Eligible applicants under the FY 2009 TSP Security Action Item Implementation priority include trucking industry professionals transporting Tier I commodities that are able to provide a current security plan. There are no restrictions on who may apply for the monitoring and planning priorities, but applicants must demonstrate that they have the financial and resource capabilities to support these functions of the FY 2009 TSP.
