Newsletter No 15 –23rdMay 2016

Dear Parents,

Firstly I’d like to say a big well done to all our year six children for working so hard in their SATs tests last week. They have really made huge efforts – particularly over the previous few weeks/months to prepare for these statutory tests and absolutely did their best last week. Well done to all!

The Year four production of Cinderella was absolutely fantastic. This was a professional production and the children really let their characters and personalities shine as they revelled in Road Dahl’s sense of humour in his version of the classic story! It was a real team effort and everyone should feel very proud of themselves.

Yours sincerely

Miss Butcher

Headteacher

Academy Consultation

Just a reminder that there will be a meeting for all parents on Tuesday 24th May at 7pm in the main hall. This will be an opportunity to hear from the headteacher, governors and from The Pioneer Academy about future plans.

Class Photos

On the first day back after half term, Monday 6th June our professional photographers will be in school taking class photos. For Year 6 pupils they will also be having an individual photograph taken as well. It would be lovely to see all the children in full school uniform. On this note, can we please ask that you respect the school uniform policy as we are seeing a few cases where this is not upheld, particularly with regards to footwear, black shoes not trainers must be worn to school. Please refer to the school website under ‘useful information/School Uniform’ if you require any clarity.

Summer Fair

A reminder that the FORH Summer Fair will be held on June 25th 12pm to 3pm. Let’s hope for a lovely sunny day. Please come along and enjoy the many stalls and activities on offer. Thank you to theFORH members who do an amazing job raising money for all the children at Red Hill.

Sports Day

Just a reminder that Sports Day will be on the first week back – Wednesday 8th June.

The children have been practising hard for Sports Day and are looking forward to showing off their skills! We are praying for a lovely dry day- the 10 day forecast looks good at the moment but we have pencilled in the 9th June as a reserve day. Please ensure that you provide your child with a water bottle, sun hat and adequate sun protection.

Key Stage 2 will start at 9.15am – 12pm

Key Stage 1 will start at 1.15pm – 2.45pm

All parents will be able to sit along the path to view all the events and we look forward to seeing you on the day.

Outstanding School Dinner Money

We have a number of parents that have still not paid their dinner money, please make payment on line or contact the school office if you are experiencing difficulty in paying.

Lost Property

We have a large selection of lost property which hasn’t been named so we are unable to return to the correct child. If your child has lost any property recently, please come along to the main hall on Friday 27th May at the end of the day and retrieve any items which may belong to you.

Uniform Sale

We will be holding a sale of surplus new uniform stock in the main hall on Friday 27th May. If you would like to grab a bargain, please come along and have a look at what’s on offer. We will also have a selection of 2nd hand uniform on offer in exchange for a donation to school funds.

Summer Weather

Just a further reminder as the weather improves, please feel free to send your child in with a hat (named!) to wear and a water bottle so we can encourage them to keep drinking. If you want to apply sun cream in the morning, please do. If it needs reapplying and you want to send them in with a bottle, we will encourage them to reapply at lunchtime.

Behaviour

I am proud to report that we received an email recently complementing some of our year six children’s behaviour in the park after school and how considerate they were towards a much younger child. Well done to those children!

At the end of the day, it is lovely to see the children running around on the field. However, please help us teach your children to play safely by reminding your children to not climb on trees or the flowerbeds. It is also not safe for them to swing on the goal posts or climb on the new railings leading up to the main hall. Thank you for your help in this.

Parking and consideration to our neighbours.

We are sad to raise this issue again, regarding inconsiderate parking towards our neighbours, however we have received a complaint from a resident in VictoriaRoad. Please be mindful of our neighbours when parking close to school to collect or drop off your children and certainly do not block driveways.
