First Painting Practice to turn in:

  1. Paint the sky first – white, then add a little bit of blue
  2. On the same sky, tap in clouds using white
  3. Paint in the water – white, then add blue. Make the horizon line of the water darker than the sky.
  4. Bring the water down adding more white so lighter in the foreground. Begin to add raw sienna to make wet sand look.
  5. Paint in the beach – white and raw sienna, darkest at the bottom of the page.
  6. Paint in background land – water down purple, paint in with a flat or round brush
  7. Add waves in the background and middle ground using a fan brush.
  8. Paint in waves on the beach – water down white, paint over dry beach color with random S shape, add foam lines, streak in a small amount of blue. Make foam tapping in white.
  9. Shadow under wave line on the sand.

Second Painting Practice to turn in:

1.  Palm tree – paint trunk using brown

2.  Paint palm fronds using fan brush – double load with green and yellow

3.  Don’t forget to add a cast shadow!

4.  One lighthouse – one brick OR one striped (Either all “C” strokes or all “S” strokes)
