First Ohio Valley IACRN Chapter Meeting Minutes

February 18, 2015

  • The meeting started with dinner from Cactus Pear that was provided by the CCTST.
  • Nurses were in attendance from several area organizations: CCHMC, UC Health, the University of Cincinnati, Shriner’s Hospital, the Veteran Affairs Hospital, TriHealth, The Christ Hospital, INC Research, and Oncology Hematology Care.
  • The meeting began with a brief presentation by Lori Brunner and Kristal Hatter discussing the parent IACRN and the pilot chapter of the Ohio Valley IACRN. Please see attached power point with slides to the presentation. Below are a few of the main points from presentation.
  • Our chapter is being sponsored by the CCTST for the first year, therefore we will not be collecting dues. This will be re-evaluated before the end of the year.
  • The Ohio Valley IACRN has a webpage located at This webpage will continue to evolve as the Ohio Valley IACRN grows. This webpage will have the most up-to-date information about our chapter.

  • Currently the plan is to meet three times in the pilot phase year. Tentative dates for upcoming meetings: May 20, 2015 and September 16, 2015. However this can be tailored to meet the needs of the chapter.
  • A Needs Assessment for the Ohio Valley IACRN chapter will be sent out within the next week. The purpose of the Needs Assessment isto help us determine the best ways to meet the needs of research nurses in our area. Everyone is encouraged to complete it. This Needs Assessment will be sent to you via email from REDcap.
  • Lori Brunner introduced our guest speaker, Peggy Clark.
  • Peggy gave her presentation on “Nurse Conducted Research: Barriers and Solutions.” Please see attached power point with slides for Peggy’s presentation. The recording of her presentation is available on our webpage ( under Resources/Links
  • Meeting was concluded with time for research nurses to network with each other.
