Boys and girls.
United States Secretary of Education,Arne Duncan.
And…
The first grandmother of the United States, Marian Robinson.
Very good. That introduces our special guests.
Thank you.
Good morning, guys. How are you doing?
Very good.
Are you ready to hear some stories?
Yes.
All right. Well, let me introduce Mrs. Robinson. She is phenomenal. Shegot two children; you may know who her daughter is. Who’s her daughter?
Michelle Obama.
Yeah. You might know that.
I’m going to read a story called “The Napping House”. There is a house, a napping house, and in that house there is a bed, a cozy bed in a napping house where everyone is sleeping. And on that bed, there is a granny, a snoring granny. And on that dog, there is a cat, a snoozing cat. On a dozing dog, on a dreaming child, on a snoring granny where no one now is sleeping. The end. Thank you.
Did you guyslike that story?
Yes.
I will do one more. Who can tell me what it’s called?
“The Rainbow Fish.”
“The Rainbow Fish.” Do youguysknow this one?
Yes.
It’s one of my favorite stories. It’s a good one. A long way out in the deep blue sea, there lived a fish, not just an ordinary fish but the most beautiful fish in the entire ocean. His scales were every shade of blue, and green, and purple, with sparkling silver scales among them. For a long time, he watched the little blue fish swim back and forth with his new scale glittering in the water. The little blue fish whisked through the ocean with his scales flashing, and so, it didn’t take long before the rainbow fish was surrounded by the other fish. Everyone wanted a glittering scale. His most prized possessions had been given away yet he was very happy. “Come on, Rainbow Fish,” they called. “Come and play with us.” “Here I come. Here I come,” said the rainbow fish and happy as he splashed. He swam off to join his friends. The end. All right. Youguysare a great audience. Do you have any questions for Mrs. Robinson that you would like to ask? Any questions?
Do you all feel comfortable when you all go to sleep?
Believe it or not, we do. And you know what, we feel awfully safe.
I hope you always feel great.
Oh, thank you.
That’s sweet, thanks.
How does it feel to have a daughter that is married to the president of the United States?
Oh, it’s a very overwhelming feeling and mostly it makes me very proud.
Can youguysplease give a huge round of applause for Mrs. Robinson for coming out?
Thank you very much.
