FIRST AID WITH ELEMENTS OF NURSING CARE

REGULATIONS
- First aid with elements of nursing care is an obligatory subject. It consists of 52 hours of training and 168 hours of nursing care apprenticeships; it ends with a marked credit.
- The subject consists of training and seminars in Nursing Care (24 hours), Desmurgy (12 hours) and First Aid (14 hours). Detailed schedule of meetings is presented on the board at the Department of History of Medicine.
- The Nursing Care Apprenticeship is an integral part of the subject. Students are requested to carry it out during the summer holiday break.
- Classes are held at the Department of History of Medicine, at Rybacka 1, in rooms 307A (Nursing Care) and 307 (First Aid, Desmurgy). Participation in all training meetings is obligatory.
- All meetings start on time – this rule applies to both teachers and students. Students who are late will not be allowed inside.
- Students must leave their outer clothes (e.g. coats) in the cloakroom on the ground floor. Persons who bring the outer clothes upstairs will not be allowed to enter the training room.
- During the training, students are obliged to wear suitable clothes. For the nursing training students are required to wear clean and ironed white gowns. No superfluous jewellery or dazzling make-up is permitted. Long hair should be tied up. At the desmurgy training students should wear sport clothes (T-shirt or body, shorts or leggings).
- For the desmurgy training students are obliged to have 2 elastic bandages, 8 cm wide.
- In case of an excused absence, students can take the class missed with another group, upon consent of the teacher.
- Students who prove unprepared for classes must correct the failing grade within two weeks.
- Credit will be granted to the students who:
- have participated in all classes
- have been given credits in all sections of the subject (i.e.First Aid, Desmurgy and Nursing Care), due to the results of the final theoretical and practical tests.
- The following students are released from the subject:
- graduate nurses (Nursing Care part)
- students who have completed a course in resuscitation and life-saving procedures (First Aid part)
Students who meet the above requirements should report to the head o the subject within the first two weeks of training. - The mark of credit is made of the average of the final results of all the elements of the subject.
