MassMutual MidMichigan Commemorates 125th Anniversary with Community Service Initiative
Grand Rapids, MI – August 13, 2015 – MassMutual MidMichigan, a general agency of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) and, a premier financial services firm headquartered in Grand Rapids, announced today that it will commemorate the 125th anniversary of its founding with a community service initiative. On Monday, August 24th, 2015 the firm’s President and General Agent, Mark A. Keating, CLU, CLTC will kick-off the event by presenting a donation to Kids Food Basket at Fifth Third Ballpark.
“Whenever you pass a significant milestone like this, it provides an opportunity to reflect on the journey, the community we serve, and the synergy that exists there” said Mr. Keating. “For 125 years, we’ve been helping people in Michigan financially plan for their future and protect their families. Our success and consistent stability can be attributed to an unwavering commitment to improving the financial futures of those we serve, and to the caliber of the financial service professionals we have been able to assemble,” he added.
Since the firm’s inception, MassMutual MidMichigan’s goal has been to help clients make good financial decisions while building community relationships that increase in strength over generations. This goal has remained vital to the firm’s growth and evolution.
Mr.Keatingis only the 7th General Agent in the firm’s 125 year history. “Stability in leadership for over a century is what has allowed our firm to stand the tests of time.I am so grateful for the work of our forefathers andthe legacy they have created. I am also humbled by the opportunity that has been bestowed upon me.
I thank them for paving the road and for serving this great community with class and humility. That has allowed me the opportunity to take the team to the next level,” he added.
The team now includes sixty-five financial service professionals, and continues to grow. Many of those professionals have a long history of service to the community, including W. G. “Mac” McPherson, CLU, George Thomas Slikkers, CLU, ChFC, and David Raguse, CLU, ChFC. 2015 marks 40 years Mr. McPherson has been with the agency, while Messrs. Slikkers and Raguse both count 30 years of service.
“It is our duty, our journey, to see to it that West Michigan continues to flourish in such a way so that all recognize our fine community as the best place to harbor business, and for families to proudly live, learn, work and worship,” explained Mr. McPherson.
To further the community service initiative, MassMutual MidMichigan will continue an ongoing campaign around LifeBridge hosting application events around the community. LifeBridge is a national program that has provided more than $670 million in free life insurance coverage to families in need. The benefit pays for children's educational costs should a protected parent or guardian die during a 10 year term. (MassMutual pays the policy premiums.).
In addition, MassMutual MidMichigan will sponsor the West Michigan Whitecaps game on August 24, 2015, hosting a VIP event and presenting a donation to Kids Food Basket during the game.
