Wave start times are from 08:00 and registration opens 07:00
Race Distance

·  400m pool swim

·  25km cycle in the surrounding countryside

·  5.5 km mostly cross-country run

Venue and location

Midsomer Sports Centre (South Wansdyke Sports Centre) Rackvernal Road, Midsomer Norton, Nr. Bath, BA3 2UG

Please use the pavement when walking to the venue as the Bike route uses South Road and Midsomer Norton High Street.

Car Parking

·  No car parking at the sports centre or Gullock Tyning as the road is closed

·  South Road car park is very close and is free

·  Limited parking on High Street

·  Car park behind Sainsbury, entry from High Street

Registration

Registration opens at 07:00 just inside the Sports Centre. Please register at least one hour before your start time, you must register before racking your bike.

Please note that if you are a BTF member you will need to show your BTF licence at registration or purchase a day licence for £3. Non BTF members have pre paid for a day license in the entry fee.

Collect your Race Number,numbered Bike Sticker and Day License. (Timing chips will be issued on poolside just before you start)

Your Bike Sticker can be put around the seat post or folded onto a cable and must be attached before entering Transition.

You will be issued with 1 race number to be visible on the back during the Cycle and front during the Run using a Triathlon race belt which is flipped around, if you don’t have a race belt please pin your number on the front of your race top for the bike and run. The number is not worn in the swim.

Cycle racking

Cycle racking is in the outdoor court which is at the side of the Sports Centre (Transition area). Leave your helmet, race number, bike and run kit here, remember to keep your goggles with you for the swim. Bikes must be roadworthy and helmets are compulsory. Please keep kit as tidy as possible during transitions.

Only competitors and officials are allowed in Transition.

Swim 400m (16 lengths x 25m)

Please be at the Poolside 15 Minutes before your Start Time. Your Timing Chip is issued which must be worn on your left anke, it will be collected from you at the finish line.

A Safety / Race briefing will be given before each swim start.

Competitors will be told which lane to swim in and the order of start and issued with a swim hat

No diving or backstroke will be allowed. When overtaking touch the foot of the swimmer in front. The swimmer should give way at the end of the length.

Competitors will be signalled two lengths from the finish. Please drop your swim hat to the floor before you exit the pool.

T1 - Swim to bike transition

Exit the pool, turn left and run to the transition area.

Please be aware of children in the public play area surrounding the transition area.

Your cycle helmet must be on and fastened before removing your bike from the racking. Wheel your Bike out of Transition to the road.

No cycling is allowed in the transition area. Competitors must use the mount/dismount area outside of the transition.

Bike route (one circuit 25 km)

Please ride safely and obey the highway code at all times, unsafe riding will result in a DQ. Take care and remember the marshals cannot control traffic, they are there to assist you with direction and observe for safety issues. The route is signposted and marshalled.

Caution Please take extra care at the steep descent at Nettlebridge Hill, the chicanes in Stratton-on-the-Fosse between miles 10 and 11, and at the tight left turning left into Welton Road at mile 14. Please ride safely.

No drafting is permitted.

Please be aware you will meet the The White Post Roundabout twice, first at 1.5 miles when you go the whole way around the White Post roundabout and back on to the same road B3139 in the opposite direction heading to Chilcompton. The second time will be from the Stratton on the Fosse Road (A367) and you will continue straight on towards Radstock staying on the A367.

T2 – Bike to run transition (at the Sports Centre)

At the finish of the Bike Route You must dismount in the dismount area and wheel your bike into transition’ Place your Bike back on to the racking.Do not unfasten or remove your helmet until your bike is racked, to avoid a penalty (BTF Rule).

Run (2 laps, 5.5 km total)

Competitors exit the transition area, turn left and follow the signs and marshals for the run.

Drinks are available during the run and at the finish.

Two laps of the course must be completed, you will be handed a wristband at the start of your second lap.

The route is part grass path, part tarmac. Please take extra care in wet conditions as the paths may be slippery.

The Finish – collect your Tech T Shirt

Timing Chips must be returned. Marshals will collect timing chips at the finish. Please remember to let us know and hand in your chip if you drop out.

Results and Timing K2 Sports

Your finish time can be seen as soon as you finish, in the small tent near the finish line, enter your number on the keypad for a print out. www.K2sports-uk.com will display the full results online soon after the finish. K2 Sports are running the popular North Bristol Sprint Triathlon (Tockington) on the 27th of September if you are keen to enter another Triathlon.

Presentation of Awards
Presentation of trophies and prizes will be after the last competitor has finished.

Property

Please make all efforts to secure your personal belongings. Although the transition is fenced off, the organisers will not accept responsibility for loss or damage to the property of persons before, during or after the race.

Lockers are available at the Sports Centre (£1 returnable).

After the race

Bikes should be collected as soon as possible after your race so marshals can stand down after an early start. You must present your race number to collect your bike.

The swimming pool is available to use after the Swim section is finished until 12 noon, free to
