Filipino Americans Coming Together at Virginia Commonwealth University Executive Council Application Spring 2017

Thank you for considering FACT’s Executive Council. We appreciate your desire to contribute to FACT.

In order to be considered for the position, you must be at least apart-time student and we recommend that you maintain a minimum GPA of 2.3 which can be confirmed by SLIC.

Listed below are important dates concerning applications:

APPLICATION DUE: Friday, January 6th @ 11:59pm. Applications may be e-mailed to your FACT Executive Board

INTERVIEWS: Interviews will be conducted after the applications are due. You will be contacted to set up a time and a date that best works for you.

PORTFOLIOS: Additionally, if you are applying for the position of Historians, Public Relations/ Publications, or Webmaster, you may choose to bring a portfolio of previous work to your interview for further consideration.

NOTIFICATION DATE: Depending on how many applicants we get, anytime before January 13th.

COUNCIL POSITIONS AND DUTIES:

Historian – Responsible for documenting all FACT events through visual capabilities (photos, recap videos, etc.) Historians will be required to communicate with Webmaster in updating/uploadingfactatvcu.org and present an electronic & hard copy scrapbook by the End of the Year Dinner.

Cultural Liaison – Directors of Filipino-American education and awareness for FACT@VCU and other tasks collaborated with the FACT Executive Board such as the annual Barrio Fiesta and Cultural Cafes. Liaisons are required to follow the curriculum for Standardizing Filipino-American Studies set by District 7.

Social – Event planners and coordinators for social events (i.e. parties, dinners, Field Day, Talent Night, Mr. & Ms. FACT Pageant, etc.) Required to arrange at least one social event each month. Works with FACT Executive Board to complete various tasks. Encourages members to become involved and welcome in FACT by keeping up with current FACT events.

Community Service/Fundraising – Chairs will be designated towards community service and fundraising events; however, both chairs may organize their duties with their discretion. Must coordinate one community service event a month and fundraising events are under the discretion of council. Also oversee the annual FACT@VCU Charity Ball.

District 7 Representative – FACT@VCU’s representatives for District 7 tasks/events. Keeps FACT@VCU updated with District 7 (District 7 Olympics, etc.) andFIND,Inc. events (Dialog, Conference, etc.) through monthly announcements and other miscellaneous tasks. Also works with Culture Night chairs on setting a date for FACT’@VCU annual Culture Night.

Culture Night – In charge of locating a venue for the annual FACT@VCU Culture Night by the deadline of their choosing and sent to FACT Executive Board and the District 7 Representatives. Chairs oversee culture night sub-committees (i.e. script writing and editing, props, backstage crew, modern & traditional dance, etc.), and logistics (ex. working with Treasurer for needed purchases, etc.); however, the tri-chairs may organize their duties with their discretion.

Public Relations/Publications – Works with Webmaster to publicize FACT in all aspects of organization on both factatvcu.org and on Facebook. Chairs are the communicators (act as publicity representatives, set deadlines, create events) and producers (either produces flyers and videos or designates members to complete a publicity task); however, both chairs may organize their duties with their discretion.

Webmaster – Updatesfactatvcu.org at least twice a month with input from Historians, Secretary, etc. Shares tasks with Secretary and Public Relations chairs in producing Facebook announcements, along with running the official FACT@VCU Twitter and Instagram accounts. Should have a background in web design or coding in order to properly maintain and update the FACT@VCU website.

Membership/Alumni Relations – Directors of Kuya/Ate program and encourages success of program through familial or social activities (potlucks, tribe competitions, etc.), along with overseeing payment of membership dues. Sends invitations and updates to Alumni of FACT for upcoming events and progress.

Sports - Responsible for coaching and assembling teams for intramural sports. Also responsible for creating a team environment amongst FACT members and in charge of working with other schools to coordinate sporting events.
