Fifth Grade News from Room 213

Dear parents/guardians,

I am including a lot of technology information in this newsletter to inform you about some of our class’s online resources. We do have a classroom website that I try to keep up to date with information about our class, including a weekly online assignment notebook. It is at:

www.bub.wikispaces.com

I will be posting any power points that were made on our recent Italy project there soon. If you do not want your child’s work posted on the website, please just write me a note or call and tell me so.

We have also started accelerated reader. Student’s are required to do one accelerated reader book this quarter and then a chapter and nonfiction book for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters. They can do more to earn some reading extra credit by completing more books. The website where they can take the tests is posted on my website, but here is the address as well:

https://hosted157.renlearn.com/306244/

They do have usernames and passwords. They can get them from me or I can email them out. My email address is:

News Tidbits and Reminders

Multicultural Studies- We will be studying Peru for the next 5 weeks on October 24th we will be celebrating with a closing activity.

PTA -

You are invited to become part of the Wickenburg PTA Community Calendar. It’s easy to list any events of importance to you, your family, or your friends, on the PTA Calendar.

All proceeds from the calendar are divided among our K-8 schools - Hassayampa and Vulture Peak - for use with extra projects, field trips, incentives, etc. You won’t only be participating in something fun; you’ll also be helping our schools. Flyers were sent home last week, check your child’s backpack. Deadline to order is October 10th.

Halloween Costume Walk

We will be holding two Halloween Costume Walks this year. On October 31st, grades 3-5 will start their walk in the gym at 8:20 am and the K-2 walk will be held at approximately 9:15 am in the Hassayampa Gym . Parents are invited to come and enjoy the events. Parents are reminded that makeup and color hair spray are not allowed at school. Students who bring a mask to wear as part of their costume are only allowed to wear the mask during the Costume Walk for safety reasons.

The days following Halloween are always a challenge for teachers and staff, remind your child that candy and gum are not allowed at Hassayampa School. Students are allowed to bring a couple pieces of candy to have with their lunch, but only at lunch time.

October 10th – end of first quarter

October 13th – 17th Fall Break

October 23rd and 24th Parent Teacher Conferences

October 28th Grade 4/5 Parent Reading meeting 7:00pm

With the quarter closing, I plan to hand out an updated progress report next week Wednesday. I enter all missing work as a zero grade and that it is missing. That is normally the biggest factor in raising a grade. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

Thanks for all that you do,

Adam J. Bub
