1. How is this field trip consistent with and promoting the West Lafayette Community School’s written educational philosophy and goals?

Develop skill in the performing arts. Help to develop a meaningful and positive philosophy of life.

2. Describe the specific educational goal(s) that this activity will help students attain.

Allow the students to evaluate and analyze a high caliber production for purposes of modeling, appreciation, expansion of creativity with regard to various aspects of music theater such as lighting/sound, singing/acting/dance, costume/set design.

3. Describe why this activity is necessary for attainment of the goal(s) above.

Going to a live production allows for closer detail analysis of the above than does viewing a video, just as viewing art in a museum is preferable to viewing art in a text book.

4. Describe why this activity cannot occur without interrupting the instructional day.

Beef & Boards has made matinee performances available to student groups at a discounted rate particularly for the purpose of educational field trips for schools. These matinees occur during the school day.
