Position Summary:

The Field Data Analyst will work with the Informational Management System team to support MSI’s global portfolio of international development projects. The incumbent will primarily be responsible for developing data visualization products in conjunction with the Senior Developer. The incumbent will be required to work effectively with internal clients located in the field and HQ, funding agencies, and third parties to create and maintain impactful visualizations. In addition, the incumbent will assist with other team duties regarding the application of technology in challenging environments and exploring new technological solutions to complex problems. The ability to understand difficult challenges in the field and identify efficient, effective solutions is key to the success of the Field Data Analyst and the IMS team.

Responsibilities:

Create data visualizations utilizing Javascript libraries such as Leaflet.js, Highcharts, and others.
Leverage analytics tools such as Excel, Spotfire or Tableau to analyze and create visualizations of data collected by field projects.
Create report templates using BIRT and/or similar reporting tools.
Assist field teams in the creation and support of survey instruments using off-the-shelf tools such as SurveyGizmo, FulcrumApp, and others.
Train field teams in the use of data collection tool and data collection methodologies.
Manage accounts and provide training and assistance to staff on MSI’s survey platforms such as SurveyGizmo, FulcrumApp and HarvestYourData.

Qualifications:

Two years of professional experience inweb development, data movement, or data analytics.
Bachelor’s degree in a related analytical field.
Previous experience with managing large and complex datasets.
Experience with Ruby on Rails and Javascript data visualization libraries including D3, Highcharts, and Leaflet.
Knowledge of enterprise tabular business intelligence tools (BIRT, Jasper, etc) a plus.
Strong interest in international development and aid work.
