FESTIVAL OF FOOTBALL - TOURNAMENT RULES

14th and 15thMAY 2016

  1. Registration, First Aiders, and Manager’s Meeting - teams must be registered by 9.10am and the name of the team’s First Aider must be given at this time. There will be a Manager’s meeting at 9.10am. 1st game will kick off at 9.30am

Saturday Afternoon –teams must be registered by 1.30 and the name of the team’s First aider must be given at this time .There will be a Managers meeting at 1.40pm.1st game will kick off at 2pm .

  1. The U6s, U7s and U8s will be a non –competitive series games.No points will be awarded and all results will be recorded as a 0-0 draw.
  1. The U9s, 10s, 11s, 12s, 13s, 14s, 15s, 16s And Ladiesgroup stages – teams will be placed into groupsand each teamin the group will play each other once.
  1. Points and progression to knock-out stages- for all age groups from U9 upwards, three points will be awarded for a win and one point for a draw. The top two teams from each group will go forward to semi-finalswith the first placed team in Group A playing the second place team in Group B in one semi-final and the second placed team in Group A playing the first placed team in Group B in the other semi-final.In the event of two or more teams achieving the same number of points, then goal difference will apply. If goal difference is the same then the result between the two teams will decide who progresses as the winner. If the result between the two teams is a draw then a toss of the coin will determine which team progresses.
  1. Length of matches - group games at all age groups will be 10 minutes one way, semi-finals and finals will be two halves of 6 minutes.If a semi-final or final is drawn at the end of normal time, extra time of 5 minutes one way will be played. Teams will play the extra time in the same direction as they started the match and the team that had kick-off at the start of the match will start the extra time period.
  1. Start of games –the winner of a toss of a coin will have kick-off to start the match.Games will start on the referee’s whistle.
  1. Match intervals – all group games will have a 5 minute interval between matches; it is the responsibility of each team manager to have their team on the pitch ready for the start of their game.
  1. Semi-finals and finals penalty shoot-out - if the game is drawn at the end of extra time in a semi-final or final, then a penalty shoot-out will determine the winner.For penalty shoot-outs, each team will take a total of five penalties alternately. The five players on the field of play at the end of extra time will each take one penalty.If the scores are equal after five penalties then the game will be decided by sudden death penalties. The same five players from each team will take a penalty.No player can take a further penalty until each of those five has had an attempt.
  1. Squad and playing team sizes - all team squads will consist of a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 8 players with roll-on/roll-off substitutes. There will be a maximum of 5 players on the pitch for a team at any one time. No transfer of players between teams is allowed on the day. U6s,U7s, & U8s, allowed 10 players per squad.
  1. Playing kit - each team must have a change of shirts or bibs available in the event of colour clash. The second named team in the fixture list will wear change shirts or wear bibs as necessary.
  1. Age of players - all age groups will be in accordance with season 2015/2016 in accordance with Cambs FA rules.
  2. Trophies and medals - trophies will be awarded to the winners and runners up of each age group from under 9s upwards and the winning team will get a cup to retain. AtUnder 6s,7s and 8s all players taking part will receive a medal.
  1. Other match rules
  1. Kick–off; opposition players to be 5 yards back from the ball.
  1. You CAN NOT score directly from Kick off. It must be touched by another player first.
  1. Under arm roll-on throw-insfor all age groups. Ball must enter play below waist height.
  1. There will be NO Retreat Rule. The games are only 10 mins long; therefore, we are trying to achieve as much game time as possible.
  1. Corner kicks and freekicks are all taken in the normal way.All free-kicks are direct; oppositionplayers must be at least 5 yards away.
  1. Penalty kicks – player taking penalty can take a maximum run-up of two paces. The penalty is to be taken from the edge of penalty area opposite centre of goal; all other players must be at least two paces away from the ball outside of the penalty area.
  1. Goalkeepers can handle ball inside the penalty areaonly. Goalkeepers can kick the ball when inside and outside of their penalty area.Goalkeepers must wear a different colour shirt to all outfield players.
  1. ‘Goal’ kicks can be taken from anywhere in the area but it will be a roll-out by the goalkeeper, below waist height; goalkeepers can kick the ball only once it has been played by another player, either on their own side or by the opposition.
  1. Back passes: U6, 7 and 8’s can pick up back passes.

All other age groups may not pick up back passes.

  1. Outfield players are allowed in the penalty areas.
  1. Any player (U6, 7, 8, 9, 10) sent off in a match will not be allowed to play in the next game. Any player (U11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16) sent off in a match will not be allowed to take part for the rest of the tournament.
  1. The decision of the match referee is final during the game.

In the event of any other problems during the Festival the decision of the Event Organiser will be final. The Event Organiser can be contacted via the Results Tent.
