Feb. 92nd Grade Field Trip to Bass Hall
Feb. 105th Grade Field Trip to Camp Carter; Valentine’s Day Dance 5:30-7:30 p.m.Students must be accompanied by parent/adult to attend.
Feb. 14Valentine’s Day parties are 30 minutes and will be from 2:20-2:50 for Kindergarten -4th Grade. Pre-k and 5th grade parties will be from 1:35-2:05. Designated room parent onlywill be permitted to arrive 10 minutes early to prepare for the party.
Feb. 15STAAR Test Informational Meeting for all 3rd-5th grade parents at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Students will receive
2 free dress passes when parents attend meeting.
Feb. 21-243rd-4th Grade Reading and Math Benchmark Tests; 5th Grade Science Benchmark. Lunch schedules will be
adjusted to accommodate testing schedule.

SHM News
SHM is thrilled to begin the highly desired Two-way Dual Language Spanish Program in 2017-2018 for incoming pre-k and kindergarten students! The Two-way program is open to native Spanish speaking and non-Spanish speaking students. To learn about the application process and deadlines interested parents should attend an informational meeting on February 7 at 5:30 p.m. in the school auditorium.
Congratulations to Zachary Cusano, our Spelling Bee Winner who will go on to compete in the District Spelling Bee on Feb. 1
Congratulations are also in order for History Fair 1st Place winners who will go on to compete in the District History Fair Feb. 7.

Decade Dress-Up Day
Keep in mind clothing that is still out of dress code during this special activity include: spaghetti strap blouses/dresses, revealing or see-through clothing, and shorts, skirts, and dresses that are shorter than three (3) inches above the knee. In addition leggings may not be worn in place of pants or under shorts, dresses or skirts that are not of appropriate length. Flip-flops, shoes without a back strap, and shoes with heels higher than one (1) inch are not permitted due to safety reasons.
Superintendent Dr. Scribner recently visited SHM to observe great teaching and learning; teachers are fabulous, students are awesome, OUR SCHOOL IS OUTSTANDING! Check out the video on the FWISD web page!

Feb. 6-10Semana nacional de reconocimiento de consejeros educativos
Feb. 7Junta informacional para padres de familia sobre el programa bilingüe o doble idioma 5:30 p.m. en el auditorio.
Feb. 9Paseo para 2dogrado a “Bass Hall”
Feb. 10 Paseo a “Camp Carter” para 5to grado;Baile del Día de San Valentín 5:30-7:30 pm. Los estudiantes deben estar
acompañados por padres / adultos para asistir.
Feb. 14 Las Fiestas del Día de San Valentín son de 30 minutos y serán de 2: 20-2: 50 para Kinder a 4to Grado. Las
fiestas de Pre-k y 5to grado serán de 1: 35-2: 05. Sólo se permitirá que el “Room Parent” llegue 10 minutos antes para prepararse para la fiesta.
Feb. 15Reunión informativa de prueba STAAR para todos los padres de 3er a 5to grado a las 5:30 p.m. en el auditorio. Los estudiantes recibirán2 pases de vestir gratis cuando los padres asisten a la reunión.
Feb. 21-24 Pruebas de lectura y matemáticas de 3er y 4to grado; pruebas de ciencias para 5to grado. Los horarios de almuerzo serán ajustados para acomodar el horario de pruebas.
Feb. 21 Reunión informativa para padres sobre la Feria de Ciencias a las 5:30 p.m. en el auditorio.
Feb. 24Finales de 4 semanas

¡SHM está encantado de comenzar el programa altamente deseado “Two- way Dual Language Spanish Program en 2017-2018 para estudiantes entrantes de pre-k y kínder! El programa de dos vías está abierto a estudiantes de habla hispana y no hispanohablantes. Para conocer el proceso de solicitud y los plazos, los padres interesados deben asistir a una reunión informativa el 7 de febrero a las 5:30 p.m. en el auditorio.

Día de la Década “Dress-Up”
Tenga en cuenta que las prendas que todavía están fuera del código de vestimenta durante esta actividad especial incluyen: blusas / vestidos con correa de espagueti, ropa reveladora o transparente, y pantalones cortos, faldas y vestidos de menos de tres pulgadas por encima de la rodilla. Además,“leggins” no se pueden usar en lugar de pantalones o con pantalones cortos, vestidos o faldas que no son de longitud apropiada. “Flip-flop, los zapatos sin la correa trasera, y los zapatos con los talones más altos que una (1) pulgada no son permitidos por razones de seguridad.
