You won’t want to miss this opportunity to hear Pastor Eddie tell, in detail, more about the areas of the Middle East where he lived and traveled. His first hand experiences will help you to better understand many of the Biblical characters and the places they lived. Hear about Jerusalem, Capernaum, the Dead Sea and many other places.We will meet in the fellowship hall. Bring a dessert or snack to share during break.

NEW MEMBERS CLASS – March 3 - 12:30 to 3:30 pm at the Pates. This class is required for membership at First Baptist Church. This class is also for anyone who is interested in knowing more about First Baptist Church. Sign up on the form included in this bulletin or call the church office to let us know if you will be attending the New Members class.

SIGN LANGUAGE CLASSES– Sign Language classes will begin again on Monday night, January 28. There are two classes, beginning (7:00 pm) and intermediate (6:00 pm). We meetupstairs in the education building in the 5th-6th grade SS room.You can enter from the parking lot by the playground (look for the sign) For more information about Sign Language or to order a book, call Kathy Fierro, 760-256-7032.

FOOD PANTRY – First Baptist Church has a food pantry. We help our congregation members with emergency food. This is NOT a once a month food distribution. It is however for those in our congregation who find themselves in a situation where they don’t have money to buy food. If you find yourself in this kind of situation contact Dora at the church office, or contact one of our deacons.

BINDER FOR SERMON NOTES – We have binders with the church logo on the front for you to use for your sermon notes plus any other notes or the FBC University training that we have once a month. The binders are $6 each. You can purchase them at the church office during regular office hours, or see Dora today, before or after services.

SUNDAY SCHOOL – We have Bible study classes for all ages at 9:45 am every Sunday. We invite you to try a class where you can build relationships, learn more about the Bible and deepen your relationship with Christ!

ALL ABOARD!Keeping Kids on Track – (2 year old thru 6th grade) The children meet on Sunday at 9:45 am upstairs in the Education Building in the Children’s Worship Room.

FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH Student Ministries –We meet for Bible Study on Sunday mornings at 9:45 am in the youth room. On Wednesdays, the youth group meets for Bible study and games at 6:00 pm. How Can I Become a Member of This Church?

To join this church, we ask that you:

  • Affirm that you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ for salvation and have been or are willing to be baptized by immersion.
  • Embrace the core beliefs of historic Christianity and are willing to follow the teachings and practices of the church.
  • Commit to being actively involved in serving the Lord in and through the church.
  • Attend a new member’s class to learn about the church’s beliefs, mission, vision and practice. Talk to one of our pastors or a deacon if you have any questions.

Guests – We are honored that you have chosen to worship with us this Sunday. We hope you feel at home and have found what you were looking for. If you are new to our church we would like for you to fill out a welcome card that is located in the bench rack in front of you. When the offering plate comes, please place the card in the plate. We would love to meet you after the service and answer any questions you might have. The pastors are available after services as well as the deacons who are available in foyer.

Children’s Church –Children’s Church is for children 4 years old through 3rd grade. Children are dismissed to Children’s Church just prior to the sermon. Children’s Church is held during the 11:00 a.m. worship service.

Nursery Care – Nurserycare is provided for babies up to 24 months of age in the education building located on the second floorduring both services and during Sunday School. Pagers are provided to parents for emergencies.

CRY ROOM –Fussy baby? Bored toddler?- Did you know we have a Cry Room set aside especially for you where you can change, feed, or care for a crying baby? You can still hear and see the service and the room is equipped with rocking chairs and a changing area, so you can soothe your little ones without interrupting the service. (Please pick up the items that are used and remove any soiled diapers before you leave.) Ask an usher for the location.

PREACHING TODAY - Welcome Reggie Thomas to First Baptist Barstow, this Sunday as our special speaker. Dr. Thomas is associate professor of Spiritual Formation at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary and also assistant director of the Doctor of Ministry Program. He's also our honorary "adjunct assistant pastor" here in Barstow! Please give Reggie a warm welcome.

FINANCIAL PEACE – On Monday, January 28 at 6:00 PM we will begin a 9 week Financial Peace University Class. Financial Peace University offers biblical wisdom that will lead you to meaningful decisions in your life. Those choices will lead you to rewrite the story of your life and will help change your family forever. Come to the orientation class on January 28 to see what it is all about. FIRST PLACE 4 HEALTH - FBC – 4 Health Starts on Monday, January 28. There are two group options - Monday mornings (9:00-10:15) or Monday evenings (5:45-7:00). We will be meeting in the lower level of the education building. This is a Christ-centered weight-control program that addresses all areas of life - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. If you would like to attend this class or if you want more informationcontact Brenda Gains, 760-253-2854.

YOUTH CAMP - Our youth will go to Jenness Park July 15-20. It seems early, but we have only till February 1 set our firm reservation number. At that time we will have to adjust our reservation. If your student wants to attend youth camp and is in 7th through 12th grade, pay the $50 deposit by putting it into an offering envelope and write on it, Jenness Youth Camp, please be sure to put the students name and how much is in the envelope.

TITHE STATEMENTS – The 2012 Tithe Statement will be passed outtoday, January 20 and next Sunday, January 27. If you find an error please contact Sherrie at the church office. Tithe envelopes are available at the back table. Every check that is put into the offering plate has an envelope made for it. It would help our tabulating team for you to put your check into an offering envelope and fill in the name and amount on the outside of the envelope. Thanks for your help.

BIBLE IMMERSION– We meet on Wednesday from 3:00 to 4:00 pm to listen to an audio reading of the Bible. We are meeting in the FAITH Sunday School classroom located in the Worship Center. All are welcome to come join us!

LADIES BIBLE STUDIES – Both of the Ladies Bible Studies will began this last week. The morning group meets at Sherrie DeVries at 10:00 AM. They will continue the Bible study, “Jesus, The One and Only” by Beth Moore. If you would like to be a part of this study, contact Sherrie DeVries at 760-253-2568.

**The evening Bible study group meets here at the church at 5:30 pm in the lower level of the education building. They are doing a studay called, “Breaking Free” by Beth Moore. For more information contact Diane Bubier, 760-447-0093.

SCRIP CARDS AVAILABLE – We have many cards available for purchase. ($25 and $100), Del Taco ($10) Bath & Body Works ($10.00) Old Navy/Gap ($25), iTunes ($15). If you want to place an order there are hundreds of shops, gas stations and restaurants to choose from. Orders are placed weekly. We have a list of all the cards available. See Myrla or Carley in the foyer after services to purchase or order cards.

SAVE THE DATE–Festival of Marriage Weekend – April 12 & 13. We are excited to have a marriage retreat weekend right here at First Baptist Church. Mark this date on your calendar. There will be three sessions, Friday evening, Saturday morning, and Saturday evening. We will be giving you more information soon.

NOT DONE FOR YET CLUB - The NDFY Club January meeting will be on Tuesday, January 29th at 11:30 am. We will have a potluck in the Fellowship Hall. Bring a dish to share. Bring a friend and let them see why we are NDFY.

WEDNESDAY SUPPER – We are looking for people to sign up to cook Wednesday suppers. We do not any anyone signed up to cook. Call Dora at the church office to get your name on the calendar. We have January 30 open, plus all of February, March and April.Please let us know if you need to make a change to your permanent reservation. Food is prepared for the amount of people who sign up. Please be sure to make a reservation or cancel if you cannot attend.
