FBCS CHEER STATEMENT AND COMMITMENT

"Not by might, not by power, but by my SPIRIT says the Lord." (Zech 4:6)

Mission Statement:

Our goal for cheerleading is for the girls to develop Christ-like qualities in everything they do. With those qualities they will be able to be true "Spirit" leaders not only during games, but also by being holy examples in and out of school.

Cheerleaders are a vital force in promoting school pride and supporting the teams in the athletic department. The determination and discipline displayed by the cheer team at First Baptist Christian School, serves as an inspiration to the student body. FBCS cheerleaders are expected to meet standards spiritually, physically, and academically. Excellence is the overall goal as the FBCS cheerleaders represent God and their school while having FUN!

During our time together as a team, the cheerleaders will work on:

•Spiritual maturity

•Attitude

•Discipline

•Discipleship

•Integrity

•Sensitivity to others

•Faithfulness

•Strength

•Team building skills

Cheerleading is not an individual sport. Each girl plays and important role on the team. "From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love as each part does it's work." (Eph 4:16)

The squad will learn, practice and perform a variety of cheers, chants, side line dances, half time routine dance and some stunting. They will perform at school pep rallies, some boys’ basketball games, and other school sponsored events ie; school play/performance.

All team members will be required to attend performances.

*Regular practices will be held during school hours in place of PE and/or recess. Schedule of practices will be made around the athletic game season.

Together as a squad, we will always be working to strengthen our walk with Him and our relationships with the other squad members.

FUNDRAISING: There will be some fundraising, ie; a car wash and bake sale, to accumulate funds for the cheer squad. This will help to cut cost on fees and uniform expenses.

EXPENSES: The expenses to participate, include a one- time cheer fee, each school year, to cover uniforms.

At the end of the year, each student may either donate their uniform to another upcoming cheerleader; donate it to the school; or sell it in the uniform re-sale shop at the school. This will cut the cost for a returning cheerleader, if she is needs to buy a larger size for the next year.

On occasion there will be times where only a small group of cheerleaders will be called upon to make an appearance such as at orientation or other events that do not call for a large group. The upperclassmen and/or team captains will be selected on those occasions.
