Newsletter 1 Spring Term 2016

Dear Parents and Carers,

Happy New Year and HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY BIRTLEY HOUSE SCHOOL!!!

THANK YOU

A huge thank you to parents for the very kind Christmas presents and cards given to staff. We really do appreciate your thoughts and generosity.

An extra thank you to parents who bought us the Mad Hatter’s Afternoon tea voucher. We had an amazing time enjoying the weird and wonderful food and drink!

STAFF CHANGE – MOLES CLASS

Sadly, Mrs Paczensky will not be returning for personal reasons. Moles class will be taught by Mrs Barnes on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and by Mrs Sillitoe on Tuesdays. The children are aware of this and are all happy with this arrangement.

SCHOOL DINNERS

We have re started our school dinners and they were greatly enjoyed yesterday! We welcome Mrs Stanton who is our new midday supervisor. She knows the children really well and is already doing a brilliant job.

CHANGES TO YOUR CHILD’S SCHOOL HOURS

Please note that if you are making changes to the days or hours that your child is attending school you are required to give one whole term’s notice. Our staff and financial planning are reliant on having notice of changes to fee income.

PERSONALISED LEARNING PLANS

New PLPs are currently being written and should be sent out by the end of next week.

EMAILS

Please ensure that all emails are now sent to rather than the separate head’s email address.

MUD!

Due to the rain and awful muddy conditions outside we are currently not allowing children to play on the grass. If any children do not have wellies please please send some in. Trainers do not stop trousers getting muddy. If you want your child to wear waterproof trousers please also send these in clearly named.

HOLIDAYS

Please try not to take your child on holiday during term time. It is very disruptive and you do have 16 weeks of holiday time to choose from. Any holidays taken in term time will be unauthorised and may result in a fine or visit from the Education Welfare Officer.

NEW CURRICULUM TOPICS

We are really excited to be starting new topics this term:

Castles (Hedgehogs), Crime and Punishment (Moles) and Deserts (Otters). We will be arranging some out of school trips to expand our learning.
