WORK HISTORY

SINAPS INC. June 2015 – Present

Project:Anlatsin.com/Tellbout.com

Head of Design and Production (Full-Time)

I rejoined Sinaps Inc. in 2015. I undertook product development, UI/UX design and video production tasks. At this point, the initial project, unversitelianlatsin.com, was expanding and transforming to anlatsin.com which addresses to a broader audience. Companies were beginning to join for PR purposes as well as introducing themselves to future employees and interns. I assessed the general user behaviors and I decided to focus on visual over written content. As the product was developed further, first company to be a part of the website was Unilever which has been one of the most well-known companies over the world. Multinational and/ or major companies such as Vodafone, Microsoft, Nestlé and Garanti Bank followed.

I started using Google Analytics, Google Trends and HR Manager. As the 70% of the visitors were new comers, and directed to the site via Google, my primary goal was to have more visitors directed to the website and have them spend longer time in the website. Therefore, as the product was developed, prototypes were generated with the data obtained from Google Analytics, a wireframe was set up, transformed into a design, and after the mockup stage, it was subjected to a test by university students and companies via A/B testing and the final product surfaced.

The biggest difficulty in this project was that it was a start-up company and I had to undertake more than one task and, therefore, I had to take on many responsibilities. By carrying out these tasks successfully, I have achieved an increasing number of clients to more than 60 domestic and foreign companies in just 2 years, finding different solutions to different clients’ needs and offering the product as a mobile app as well. As a result, the number of visitors has increased from 12k to 20k in the last three months and the duration an average visitor spends on the site and the number of clicks to the website have been extended with the help of the new design.
Finally, I created a clickable mobile app prototype that help us gain 8 more new customers.

FREELANCE 2004 – Present

Freelance Designer

I started my career in 2004 by designing my first web site. As I realized how I enjoyed this, I decided to pursue a career in graphic design. Throughout years, I have done web and graphic design, UI/UX design, booked covers for renowned publishing houses in Turkey, graphic design, branding and re-branding, logo design, packaging, personal and corporate social media planning and management, various fashion, cover and corporate photo shoots, video shoots, production, music video clips, editing, 3D modeling and motion graphics.

IUGO TECHNOLOGIES October – December 2015

UI/UX Designer (Project Based)

IUGO Technologies firm was a start-up when I joined their project as a short term UI/UX designer. My assignments were to design the dashboard and the mobile application. The firm had designed a product that would minimize the risk of accidents and increase security analysis, fuel-efficiency and operational efficiency by changing the driver behaviors. I joined the project to help the data received from the product prototype converted into software by developers, this data to be displayed and managed. I prepared a dashboard that users can easily access and track their vehicles through desktop, tablet and mobile. I also worked on an application that tracks users’ behaviors and any changes in their behaviors while driving according to the road and vehicle conditions.

The biggest contribution of this project to my professional career was to allow me to work in an area that I had never had a chance to work before, and be a part of the development of an environment friendly product that helps users and make them realize instant changes and post behaviors of drivers. In a short time, big companies like IBM and Shell invested into the project. Iugo founder Evren Ozatay commented on my work as “[a] great UX designer with creative work.”

UTOPYA GRAPHICS November 2014 – September 2015

UI/UX Designer & Art Director (Full-Time)

I joined Utopya Graphics to design interfaces and graphics for the firm’s clients in the private sector, defense industry and various government institutions as well as acting as an art director reviewing and managing other graphic designers’ works to increase the creativity. During the time I worked in the firm, I set up more than ten web sites and prepared more than hundred online and print visuals. During this period, along with design, I also undertook the management of the production, and expanded customer portfolio thus increasing the firm’s profits and number of customers.

Working with multiple customers in various sectors at the same time, managing and handling a number of projects simultaneously, working under pressure and time limitations, and acquiring leadership skills by managing a team all contributed to my career development.

BTG INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY INC. October 2014 – December 2014

UI/UX Designer (Project Based)

I joined BTG Information and Technology Inc. as a project based short term UI/UX designer. My assignment was to prepare prototypes and design wireframe and interface of an online management system for a foreign public institution. I produced a user friendly design that allows the data to be easily managed. In a tight schedule and with limited data, I achieved submitting a design that can be used by all employees in the country.

SINAPS INC. December 2012 – November 2013

UI/UX Designer (Full-Time)

I started working for Sinaps as a project based UI/UX designer. The project was to form a platform in which university students and employers can come together, and help both employers to find their future employees and students to gain experience before graduation and make career planning. It received a big funding. However, the parameters of the project were too wide and the expectation was too high; therefore, eventually the project failed.

However, it gave rise to another project universitelianlatsin.com in which university students share their experiences, helping university candidates. It became a successful website with more than 200K visitors a day.

CSI INTERNATIONAL SERVICES AND CONSULTANCY November 2012 – May 2013

UI/UX Designer & Graphic Designer (Part-Time)

I started working for CSI as a part-time UI/UX designer. The tasks I undertook included preparing interfaces for clients from private sector and government entities, graphic design, 3D modeling, and execution of projects after approval. I was expected to prepare presentations for the projects and present it to the clients. Therefore, I was not only involved in the creative work but also a part of the client relations.

This experience taught me time-management, and strengthened my problem solving, project preparation and presentation skills. It also gave me an opportunity to work directly with clients.

VIETNAM ADVERTISING AGENCY June 2012 – August 2013

Art Director (Internship)

As an intern art director, my duties included packaging design, graphic design and 3D modeling. As a part of my job, I had the opportunity to work closely with big companies in Turkey. I learned client and user oriented posthaste problem solving. Besides, I learned how to work as team member. Due to my meticulous work and eagerness to learn, after my internship I continued working for the agency as a freelancer.

As I worked closely with the creative director and the agency president, the experience taught me team work, how to meet expectations of different clients from different backgrounds, problem solving skills, project preparation and presentation, and widened my perspective.

UJR PRODUCTIONS – CEM ADRIAN (MUSICIAN) September 2008 – September 2011

Web & Social Media Manager (Full-Time)

I initially started to work with the artist as a designer. My task was designing and programming (HTML/CSS) the artist’s web site and content management. Later on, as social media usage started trending in Turkey, I set up accounts on various social connection sites such as Facebook. At the time social media was a completely uncharted territory for Turkish PR market. I used this to our advantage by creating social media accounts which were gradually becoming more popular among and accessible to younger population. I started using social media as a marketing and PR tool as well as bringing fans together.

Having said that, I managed to hit 800K in merely a year and a half after I set up the Facebook account at a time technology which was not advanced enough, and mobile apps that were out of question.I was also responsible from taking photographs and shooting videos of concerts, taking PR photographs and at times helping clip production.

This was a once in a lifetime experience in which I got to utilize a new trend, a trend that has proven itself to be ever evolving, and use this trend in a way that has become one of the primary PR platforms today but unknown at the time. Besides developing my photography and video taking skills, I learnt social media management, improved my communication skills, and realized how I can incorporate technology to my profession and be more creative. This job helped me define my future career trajectory.
