Waterproofing

1.01

General

All surfaces shall be prepared and the waterproofing plug applied strictly in accordance with the current technical data sheet.

All work shall be carried out by a pre-qualified contractor, who is well trained in the application of the specific, documented, waterproofing plug system.

All materials used in conjunction with the new waterproofing plug system, shall be approved by the product supplier.

1.02

Surface Preparation

All surfaces to which the new waterproofing system is to be applied, shall be clean, sound and free from contaminants, such as concrete curing compounds, paints, form release agents and all other coatings.

Concrete surfaces should be prepared by water blasting, grit blasting or wire brushing in the area of the leak to remove laitance or unsound surface material in the host substrate.

Waterproofing Plugging System

2.01

Where so designated, concrete and masonry surfaces subject to water leakage are to have the water leaks identified and repaired, using a one component, rapid setting, cementitious plugging mortar.

All cracks and leakage points are to be chiselled out to create a rebate, having a minimum width and depth of 25mm.

The cementitious mortar must be non toxic, and can be applied by trowel or hand to vertical, horizontal and overhead repairs.

2.02

The waterproofing product shall exhibit the following properties:

Form: / Cementitious powder
Colour: / Cement grey
Initial setting time: / 30 seconds (after mixing)
Application temperature: / 5oC to 30oC
