FAQ: Certified Transfer Process
When will certified vacancies for next school year be posted?
Early in February, we will begin to post certified openings for our two new elementary schools and other anticipated openings due to resignations, retirements, etc.
How long are the positions posted?
All positions are posted for 6 working days. The only exception is for new schools. We generally accept transfer requests for new schools until the end of February.
What if I do not see the posting and miss the deadline?
We adhere strictly to the posted deadlines so that sites can move quickly to fill openings. Unfortunately, if you miss the deadline, we will ask you to wait for future opportunities.
Where are the certified openings posted for current employees?
Check with your site administrator to find out where a hard copy of the notice is posted at your site.
Last year I saw certified openings posted on the district website. Are these postings for current employees or outside applicants?
Please refer to the postings located at each site if you are a current employee. The posting on the district website targets outside applicants and only contains general information and anticipated openings. For example, outside applicants are not privy to the specific site or grade level. In addition, the posting deadlines applicable to current employees are not included on the district website.
Where do I get a transfer form?
Forms for both secondary and elementary transfers are available on the district website. The Transfer Forms have been revised to be fillable Microsoft Word documents.
To whom do I send the completed form?
You should e-mail the completed form as an attachment to Elizabeth Barker in HR. Elizabeth will review and forward your request to the receiving principal and your immediate supervisor.
Do I need to respond to each posting?
Yes, even if you are responding to a posting at the same school, you will need another transfer form.
This is my first year teaching in Chandler. Can I request a transfer to a new school?
No, generally transfers are not approved for teachers in the first three years of employment.
I have a one year or balance of year contract. How do I make sure I am considered for next year's openings? Should I submit a transfer form?
Yes, please respond to each posting with a completed transfer form. Although teachers who have a one-year (or balance of year) contract are not guaranteed a contract for the following school year, they will be considered by site administrators for any opening for which they qualify. Your completed transfer form will ensure the principals review your qualifications as they determine the interview list.
I am interested in a high school art position. If an opening is not posted by the end of the school year, can I still be considered for openings which occur over the summer?
After May 31st specific openings will not be posted. Employees who are still interested in transferring to a particular site or position may forward a Transfer Request Form to Human Resources to be considered during the summer.
Do I need to be highly qualified in the subject area to be considered for a transfer?
Yes, being highly qualified for the posted position will be a criterion for receiving a transfer.
