REGIONAL FAO/NGOs-CSOs CONSULTATION FOR EUROPE

INFORMATION NOTE

CONSULTATION ARRANGEMENTS

  1. The Regional FAO/NGOs-CSOs Consultation will be held at the Congress Centre, Rennweg 3, Innsbruck, on 23 and 24 June 2008.
  2. The normal working hours of the Consultation will be from 09.30 to 13.00 hours in the morning and from 14.30 to 18.00 hours in the afternoon.

WORKING LANGUAGES/DOCUMENTATION

  1. Simultaneous interpretation for the Consultation will be provided in English, French, Russian and Spanish. The documentation will be issued in the same languages. The following documents are of relevance to the Consultation:

FORMALITIES FOR ENTRY INTO AUSTRIA

7.Nationals of certain countries of the Europe Region require a visa for entry into Austria. Participants are therefore invited to contact the Austrian consulate, or the consulate of a MemberState of the SCHENGEN area representing Austria in their country, to obtain a visa, should this be required. 8.Participants are advised to communicate, as soon as possible, all details concerning airline, flight number and expected time of arrival in Austria and date ofdeparture, to the addresses indicated in Annex A. Participants are strongly advised to label theirluggage clearly to facilitate its identification.

FOREIGN EXCHANGE AND BANKING FACILITIES

9.There is no limit to the amount of foreign currency that may be introduced into Austria. The exchange bureaux and banks will provide information on exchange rates and will take care of exchange and transfer operations. The national currency is the Euro.

FIRST-AID SERVICES

10.First-aid services will be available on the Conference premises.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATION

  1. Due to the high tourist season and possible overbooking in hotels, participants are kindly requested to submit the hotel reservation form appearing as Annex A on Page 4.
  2. Accommodation will be available for participants and their families at the hotels listed in Annex B on Pages 6 and 7.

REGISTRATION

  1. All participants are requested to register, and registration will take place at the Congress Centre, Innsbruck, on Monday 23 June 2008 from 09.00 hours. Only registered participants will be issued with special badges, which will permit them to enter the Consultation and subsequently the 26th FAO Regional Conference meeting venue.

WEATHER

15.The climate in Austria is generally pleasant and warm in June with the possibility of rain, and temperatures range from 20˚C during the day to 10˚C at night.

ELECTRICITY

16.Electric current frequency in Austria is 50 Hz., voltage – 220 V.

CATERING SERVICES

17.The Congress Centre, Innsbruck, has a restaurant and a coffee bar.
