Wasatch Third Ward

Family History Plan

DRAFT

Objective

The Family History Program is established to help unite ward members with their ancestors and others how have lived without receiving the full blessings and covenants of the gospel.

There are five areas that will be supported:

1.  Family History Consultants

2.  Family history indexing

3.  Family History Center

4.  Training, teaching, materials and mentoring of ward members

5.  Direct involvement with Stake and church supported programs

Our Wasatch Stake has brought forward a helpful information to help us understand how we are performing in our roles in Family History and how to measure areas that we can improve in. As a measurable metric, wards that actively participate in at least 5 of the following areas see twice the number of ward member participating in Family History:

1.  The “To Turn the Heart” guidebook is a core in the ward plan. The ward council develops and works your ward family history plan.

2.  Youth are called to serve in family history

3.  There are three or more active family history consultants serving in the ward

4.  Youth take family names when they go to the temple

5.  Consultants meet with and help members at least monthly

6.  Consultants meet with priesthood leaders at least monthly

7.  Consultants help new or returning members at least monthly

(Green - performing, Blue – striving to perform, Red – not yet implemented)

Sustaining metrics:

As can be seen from the above list. Our current level of performance is 28% (Performing and Striving areas) compared to the desired 71% we could be realizing.

Conclusion:

The programs developed by the Church and Stake allow the Third Ward to easily measure how we are functioning as ward. The efforts are simple. When united and measured, each of these simple efforts create a strong value that will help our members enjoy Family History and develop in the Lords work to bless those how are patiently waiting for their work to be done.
