Welcome to my FCS Classroom! Over the course of this semester you will be asked to try many diverse and challenging things. That’s what life is all about. In my classroom you will learn about life and all of the things we need to juggle from day to day; jobs, families, children, friendships, keeping a home, clothing and cleanliness. We will also learn to be productive citizens who contribute positively to society!

Classroom Rules

All rules stated in the student handbook apply in this classroom.

Cell phones, IPods, digital cameras and any electronic devices are not permitted in any FCS classroom. They must be turned off at all times.

When the bell rings you are to be in your assigned seats or a tardy will result.

Accumulating 3 tardies will result in a detention to served in Room 105 that very day.

If you forgot your assignment, you will receive a “0” in my grade book. Bring everything to class with you each day-notebook, pen, textbook and homework!!

Textbooks for required each day in Child Dev, Intro to Educ and Essentials for Life

If unexcused absence occurs, a zero will result in my gradebook.

Passbooks/Daily planners will be used for homework and hall passes.

No locker passes will be allowed in my classroom.

Bathroom passes may be allowed during the last 5 minutes of class at my discretion.

Homework should be done in blue or black ink only- no pastels or gel pens.

Hooded sweatshirts or shirts with front pockets are not allowed in any FCS classroom.

No Sandals, flip-flops or open toed shoes are allowed in Sewing Lab.

Pop, candy and foods are not allowed in my classroom. Gum should be silent & invisible.

Respect yourself, others and me!

This includes; equipment, feelings, time, space & privacy!!

Sewing and Crafts Projects

Any sewing , craft or extra project that is to be taken home will be paid for by the student or his/her family. If you are not able to pay for a project, please speak to me after class and we will discuss a solution. ( Fee Waiver kids see me!) Sewing projects are made from kits that I order and will cost approximately $15.75-$25.00 depending on the student’s class. All projects are to be paid for in full before the student may take them home.

Careers and Essentials Class

During Careers classes we will explore different career clusters, take interest inventories, discuss the ASVAB test, write 3 occupational research papers, develop a resume’, conduct mock interviews and complete a portfolio. Essentials class will also cover comprehensive skills for living alone in the adult world . A sewing lab fee may be assessed at a later date. Fee waiver students- see me!
