  • It is Flu Time –Joint Commission Requires that hospitals screen every patient for flu vaccination. Please see attached instruction sheet as well as Fast Facts Sheets. No patient should transfer out to the floor, discharge home or to a facility without being screened

  • PCA Pumps: Always check your drips and ensure that the pump is programmed in the correct mode
  • End of life care when a patient has a pacemaker/AICD:MD consults EP team to turn off pacer/AICD prior to withdrawal.
  • CVVHD bags : Double check to make sure tab is broken to allow electrolyte mixture to mix with the solution. (Break tab)
  • Maestro Updates
  • Inpatient NPO orders: Removing the Diet NPO (does NOT cancel tray) and Diet NPO for Procedure (does NOT cancel tray) orders from Maestro Care
  • This change is part of an effort to minimize patient’s accidentally getting a food tray when they should be NPO.
  • From this point, users should select the Diet NPO order for patients who should be NPO; this order notifies Dietary Services to cancel the diet and cease the delivery of food trays.
  • Introducing the Nurse Sidebar dashboard: allows users to see the patients assigned to them and indicates which patients have outstanding documentation—in the Patient Lists sidebar report (as well as in the Nursing Learning Home dashboard, where it currently appears).
  • Nominate a Colleague for the 2017 MLK Community Caregiver Award
