Introduction

The Fall Enrollment Profile provides an early look at PVCC’s credit enrollment for the semester and highlights important trends that have implications for planning. Demographic and enrollment characteristics based on the 5,647 students who were enrolled in credit courses as of October 25, 2013, are described in the text and charts below. Available data from the previous fourfall semesters are also shown.

Compared to Fall 2012, headcount is down (about 1.8%) and there is also a decline in FTE(about 2%) at this time.

*Percentage of students taking at least one developmental course. In the 2011-12 academic year, the VCCS implemented a new assessment to place students into math, as well as a nine module curriculum for developmental math courses, with developmental math requirements specific to program of study.

*In 2011-12, PVCC changed the way it classifies pre-health professions students. Historically, these students had been classified in general studies, a transfer program. Now, students who intend to seek AAS degrees and certificates in health professions, but have not yet been accepted into those programs, are counted as Career and Technical Education Students.

Dual Enrollment

Most High School enrollment is accounted for by Dual Enrolled students. For Fall 2013, PVCC has 1,323 enrollments in Dual Enrollment courses offered at regional high schools. At this time, Fall 2013 dual enrollment is up compared to Fall 2012 (462 FTE in Fall 2013 compared to 441 FTE in Fall 2012).

Recent High School Graduates at PVCC

Of the students enrolled this semester, 439(7%) are graduates of the regional public high schools. Of these, 164 students (34%) were dual enrolled in PVCC courses last year.

In 2012-13 PVCC enrolled858 regional high school seniors in Dual Enrollment courses. Of these, 171 (20%)are enrolled at PVCC in Fall 2013.

Another 30 students are graduates of regional private schools, 90 are recent home school completers, and 18 are recent GED completers.
