COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course offers a unique opportunity for students to develop, expand, and explore various aspects of television. As an advanced class, students will be required to have specific goals and objectives for their work. It is self-monitored. Students are responsible for completing assignments and keeping time sheets just as in a working television environment.

Students will develop a plan involving live programs, sports, news, entertainment, and other forms of broadcast communication as well as the opportunity to develop their own program, which must air on NTTV as a requirement of passing the course.

REQUIRED MENTS AND GUIDELINES

  • You MUST set up a one on one meeting with Prof. Slocum to discuss and develop your work/study plan.
  • Schedule this by email within in the first full week of the semester.
  • This course requires 100 hours of work to be distributed in several areas
  • A minimum of 70 hours will be focused on television news/sports in some area.
  • Present a 1 page outline of your proposal for this class and what you will accomplish.
  • You are responsible for accomplishing the goals you develop and agree to complete.

CLASS BASICS

COURSE SCHEDULE – 3502

3502 is a self-directed course. Students are responsible to work and meet their goals as agreed upon in the one-on-one meeting with the professor at the beginning of the semester. As such, only the initial class period is required. After that, if the student wishes to attend a 3501 course for refresher purposes, they may and received a half-hour of credit for that. (see previous comments). For reference, the 3501 syllabus is listed here. Again, 3502 students are required to attend the first day.
