Faith VS Fear

Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. Psalm 34: 9

When God put fear in our hearts, it was for a reason. He did this in order to fear Him, detect outside danger, and be warned that we are away from Him.

Many people walk through their daily lives fearing one thing or another. They don’t realize that the more they allow fear to take over it will overwhelm them sooner or later. They will feel as if they are walking on eggshells, for they can loss control of their lives at any giving moment and become unable to function.

The more we allow fear to take over our lives, the more our lives will be full of unhappiness, doubt, and we will dread death. We will find that

The more we worry about our health, the more we gain many health problems.

The more we worry about others, the more we gain many anxieties.

The more we worry about our jobs, the more we face many failures.

Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” So he said “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself. Genesis 3: 9-10

Don’t try to live in fear and adapt it into everyday life. Fear is a sin because it is a spiritual force from Satan. When fear exists, it means there is no place for faith. For, fear and faith cannot go together since they are opposites from each other. Satan will use fear as a weapon against us. He will use it to control our minds and emotions, and keep us in bondage to destroy our lives and separate us from God.

We see this clearly when Adam and Eve were in touch with God, they were happy and peaceful. But when sin entered their lives and Satan took over and convinced them to sin against God, they were ashamed and afraid and they hid from God

“And at the end of the time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever.” Daniel 4: 34

Nebuchadnezzar is another example of what fear can do. For, he was a king and a very rich and powerful one at that. But he was miserable and very troubled because he relied on himself and his ability to succeed. Fear will find a good home to live and grow when it sees a person who depends on himself.

It is an illusion to think that you can be happy and satisfied in life while you are away from God. We see how Nebuchadnezzar suffered a great deal of pain and how he lost his mind for seven years. Until finally, he came to his senses and realized and acknowledged God’s greatness and power. Then when he praised the Lord, He allowed himself to be healed and restored, and ultimately ends his painful experience.

What is faith?

It is not only about having knowledge of God’s word, but also believing His word and struggling to obey it. Only through faith can we destroy unhealthy fear and allow peace to enter into our lives.

The Question is: Why do God’s children rely on themselves in times of fear? Why do they seek more than God’s blessings? Why are they too weak in their faith, such that they allow Satan to take control?

Through prayers we can ask God to grant us faith and peace in our hearts and give us the strength to overcome our everyday problems and triumph. Just as Jacob wrestled with the angel of God in order to gain his blessing, we also need to be persistent to receive our blessings and strength from the Lord.

And Ahab told Jezebel all Elijah had done. Also how he had executed all the prophets with the sword. Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah saying, “So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.” And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life.

1 Kings 19: 1-3

Sometimes even faithful people have their moments of weakness and they go through fearful situations. In Genesis, we can clearly see Abram’s obedience and love for the Lord. Then suddenly we see Abram lying to King Abimelech and telling him that Sarah (his wife) was his sister. Abram was afraid that the king would kill him.

We see Elijah the prophet obey God with zeal and trust Him in life. Then suddenly we see him running away from Jezebel in a moment of weakness.

And also we see (in Matthew 14) when Peter wanted to come to Jesus on the water. Then Peter suddenly became afraid and began to sink and cried out for Jesus to save him.

Even though God’s children failed Him in the examples above, we see how God took care of their needs and did not abandon them.
God never leaves his children or forsake them when they are in their moment of doubt and fear. But He will rebuke, correct, guide, and lift them up until He brings them back to him.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

Finally, when we are faced with situations that cause us to havefrustration and anxiety do not take the matter in your own hands. Stop the cycle of fear and suffering and trust and obey the Lord in faith. Then He will choose for you whatever instruments are necessary to accomplish His purpose for you.

Faith VS Fear

I see Satan out to get me

He’s watching all my moves

Trying to fill my mind with doubts

And let’s me think there is no way out

Trying to put fear in my heart

To steal my faith away

But lord

You have taught me no matter what

You’re right here with me

To lead me to your way

To free my soul from bondage

To cleanse all my sins

To light up my way to you

So … Lord

Let me humble myself

And

Fill my life with faith

Only then

Fear, doubt, anxiety

Will go away
