Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, and I could not.
Jeremiah 20:9
A minister told his congregation, “Next week I plan to preach about the sin of lying. To help you understand my sermon, I want you all to read Mark 17.
The following Sunday, as he prepared to deliver his sermon, the minister asked for a show of hands. He asked how many had read Mark 17. Nearly every hand went up.
The minister smiled and said, “Since Mark only has 16 chapters, I will now proceed with my sermon on the sin of lying.

Attitude
How can one develop a proper attitude toward God? First, our attitude toward God must be based on our conviction that “He is,” and that “He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). This kind of faith will produce a good attitude of godly fear, and “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (Proverbs 1:7). Second, God is absolutely holy, absolutely perfect, and absolutely wise. He is grieved by evil. He loves man and wants us to love and obey Him. All of this should motivate us to want to be true to Him all the days of our life. Our attitude toward God will then be such as expressed by the heavenly hosts: “Worthy are thou, our Lord and our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power: for thou didst create all things, and because of thy will they were, and were created,” (Revelation 4:11).
The churches of Christ greet you.

Do We Apply The Same Standard?
(Author not credited)
Do you apply the same standards of faithfulness to your Christian activities that you expect from other areas of your life?
* If your car starts once in every three tries, is it reliable?
* If your paper boy skips delivery every Monday and Thursday, is he
trustworthy?
* If your refrigerator stops working for a day or two every now and then,
do you say, "Oh well, it works most of the time?"
* If your water heater provides an icy-cold shower sometimes, is it
dependable?
* If you miss a couple of loan payments every year, does the bank say, "Ten
out of twelve isn't bad?"
* If you fail to worship God one or two Sundays a month, do you expect to
be called a faithful Christian?
We expect faithfulness and reliability from things and other people. Doesn't God deserve the same from us? The problem is that in our religious activities we see ourselves as volunteers rather than duty-bound
(I Corinthians 9). For volunteers, almost everything seems acceptable. For a bondservant who is duty-bound, faithfulness is expected (Matthew 25:21).
