Members Present: Ann Rader-Tate, George Tate, Maria Cristina Lopez, Robert Shankin, Joe Gallagher, Dane Reese, Andre Ruesch, Clark Baughan, Stephen Fadden, Diane Pinkey, Shuli Lamden, Cate Fitzmaurice Torres, John LeDoux, Janet Vucinich

2) Committee Sign up: The following committees were established:

Committee on Health Benefits, Salaries, and Terms and Conditions of Employment

Purpose: To negotiate directly with the administration and board of the college to improve adjunct and full-time salary schedules, improve health benefits, and improve the terms and conditions of employment for both full-time and adjunct faculty. Note that this committee has been authorized to bargain with the college on behalf of all faculty by Faculty Senate on 8/27/04. This committee has been directed by the senate to adopt as its FIRST priority the implementation of the proposed Chart One for adjunct faculty salary matrix. The committee is also directed by the senate to negotiate a promotion and advancement matrix closely related to Proposal C approved as the faculty-preferred advancement model in May of 2004.

Motion Approved: This committee is authorized to negotiate with SFCC administration theproposed Chart One for adjunct faculty salary matrix and Proposal C regarding full-time faculty salary and promotion (including health and other benefits and terms and conditions of employment), with implementation proposed for the spring '05 semester. The senate expects a response from the administration no later than October 15, 2004.

Committee on Academic Issues

Purpose: To guide the college in setting academic policies that affect instruction. Some current issues include but are not limited to grading policies, instructor-initiated withdrawals, course and program cancellation procedures.

Committee on Faculty Development

Purpose: To develop faculty-directed initiatives on Faculty Development and to guide the planning of Faculty and Institutional retreat days.

Committee on Shared Governance and the Constitution of Faculty Senate

Purpose: To advance and refine the governance model embodied in College Regulation 119, and to maintain an current and relevant constitution that is ratified and reflects all the representational and organizational needs of the Faculty Senate.

Committee on Retirement Benefits

Purpose: To network with Staff Senate and with other colleges and educational institutions in the state for the purpose of organizing efforts aimed at the state legislature for the purpose of improving educational retirement benefits.

Committee on 10+ Faculty Salary Adjustments

Purpose: To propose a one-time salary adjustment for faculty members whose salaries did not receive a one-time adjustment based on experience calculations in 2002. These faculty members include, but may not be limited to, those who had over ten years’ experience at Santa FeCommunity College in 2002
