Logging In

1.  Login to Moodle2.uncc.edu or through Canvas

2.  You are now on the home screen.

3.  On the left hand side click Mahara@UNC Charlotte

Adding Content

1.  Click the green “Content” tab at the top

2.  Click the sub-tab “Files”

3.  Drag and drop files OR click “Choose Files”

to find your files

4.  Mahara will accept any file type

Making a Page

1.  Click the green “Portfolio” tab at the top

2.  Click the “Create Page” button

3.  Choose your title and description

4.  Click the “Edit Layout” tab to change canvas

5.  You can change any of these features at a later time

Organizing the Page

1.  Click the grey “Edit Content” tab

2.  On the left hand side, find the type of artifact you wish to add.

3.  Drag and drop onto canvas, or click directly on the icon to select space.

You can move the item again at any time

4.  Fill in prompted selections

5.  Click “Done” at the bottom to save

Collections (Pages that have been grouped together for a larger portfolio)

1.  Create your pages

2.  Click the grey sub-tab “Collections” under the green “Portfolio” tab

3.  Click the green “New collection” button

4.  Select a title

5.  Select your pages

Sharing Your Work

1.  Click the sub-tab “Shared by me” under the green “Portfolio” tab

2.  Edit Access – share with others on campus

a.  Click the lock icon next to the page or collection you want

b.  Use + buttons to select users to grant access

c.  You can find individuals under the “Share with other users and groups” arrow

d.  Save

3.  Secret URLs – share with others off campus or to an Assignment

a.  Click the globe icon next to the page or collection you want

b.  Click the green “Add” button

c.  Send this URL to anyone you wish to share with

d.  You can generate multiple URLs at one time

TIPS

·  You MUST login through Moodle2 or Canvas

·  Members/students who have never entered Mahara will not appear when searched

·  You can edit any portfolio at any time

·  Your portfolio is invisible until shared

·  “Friending” is not like Facebook – it doesn’t give you access!

·  Pages can only live in one collection at a time

·  The URL at the top of the page will not work if copy and pasted. You must use a secret URL.
