7:10PM - Principal report: Carolyn Shea

  • Overwhelming request for Rocket Scholarships this year. Special thanks to PTA as the Principal’s fund from the budget used to cover all requests so everyone will be able to participate.
  • Discussions surrounding funding of Anti Bully speaker Joe Trionfero (assemblyprograms.com) for the week of 10/23/13 look favorable. Funding of $650 for this speaker to express this positive message to our students will be drawn from the $1,000 budget for annual visiting author. We will still make attempts to find another local author that would be willing to visit the school with the remaining balance of the budget. If no author is found that can meet our budgetary needs, having a visiting author for this year will be passed over.
  • Field Trips are coming back to the district so planning has begun for grade/curriculum appropriate trips. More details to come soon.

7:15PM - Treasurer Report – Jenn Michaud

  • Discussed possibility of eliminating math action program due to Common CORE curriculum changes – volunteer(s) and funds needed to update current math action item to match curriculum standards
  • Fundraiser updates for coupon book look positive at this point but final tallies to be given at conclusion of fundraiser end date 10/4/2013.
  • No updates could be given to estimate the outlook of the Great American fundraisers until the end date 10/4/13.

7:30PM - Committee Reports

  • 3rd Grade Halloween Party: Jennifer Glorioso indicated that they expect to have sufficient volunteers – 35 or 4 to 5 per class. Items needed in addition to decorations are still to be determined. Expectations of funds are that they will be used predominantly for the purchase of donuts for a popular reoccurring activity.
  • Odyssey of the Mind: Amanda Allen managed to addone non-competing team from DudleyElementary free of charge under our membership for the Primary Problems. Additional interest from Northside students continues to grow. The buzz about the program has already hit the school’s “Morning Show” and with great success Northside currently has 7 full teams (49 students).
  • Spring Family Event: Jessica Cotto needs a Co-chair to get the ball rolling for the event.
  • Afterschool clubs: we need a chairperson and co-chair to run the program.
  • Fundraiser (Coupon Books): Jenn Michaud indicated unsold coupon books and order forms are coming in and forms are due 10/4/13.
  • Membership - Andrea Costanza volunteered to Chair Membership! Membership plans to staff a table at school-wide events, including the 3rd grade Halloween party, conference days 12/12/13 and 12/13/13, and spot light nights 5th grade 11/14, 4th grade 1/30/14, and 3rd grade 2/13/13.
