RIP Bill Whistlecroft MBE - brilliant coach, the heart and soul of Yeovil Olympiads and all round really nice guy. He will be sadly missed.

Sorry to hear about bill people like him are impossible to replace

Gutted - he will be sorely missed - and leave a gaping hole no-one will ever be able to fill! RIP indeed.

Bill transcended all levels of athletics - fantastic tutor, coach, motivator, announcer and president of our club. He encouraged everybody around him and I will always remember his amazing positivity.

So, so sad. I'll write through the tears. He was a great man and his legacy lives on. Funny, warm, generous, shrewd, educated, committed. We knew him for a reason and it's up to each of us to pick up some way to emulate him.
The direction of my life changed after the my first conversation with him. I was a runner(or as he would say a jogger) who had lost weight for health reasons. Then I met Bill and I started calling myself an athlete. He gave me the confidence to participate.

Such a shame im sure he trained me over 15 years ago and he gave me some pointers last year the guy was a legend to yoac!

So upset right now ...Will miss Bill so much!!! A truly incredible man!!!!

R.I.P Bill Whistlecroft! He will be greatly missed by myself and others. Thank you so much for taking me under your wing and getting me into hurdling, you have done so much for me and I wouldn't be where I am with out you Bill.

So sad to hear the news about Bill Whistlecroft, he was the first coach to support me in the level of training I wanted to do, the first person who told me I had real potential. He did so much for me and so many people I know, he was a true inspiration. It's so beautiful to see so many athletes on here saying they wouldnt be where they are or who they are without him, I know I'm one of them too. Rest in peace Bill.

RIP Bill Whistlecroft - An incredibly talented, inspirational and motivational man. Without him, I never would have been an England Schools International and therefor wouldn't have gone to Millfield. I owe him for a great deal of fortune in my life and I know for a fact that my debt to him is shared by many. Rest easy and thank you.

Noooo!! What an incredible man, husband, father and coach!! Coached me for 4/5 years and has been a great athletics legend! Rest in peace - gone but never forgotten!

Very sad news. He touched a lot of people's life's and will be greatly missed.

Yes very sad news, he was a true gent and a great role model for those who wanted to help others develop. And as many have said - always had a good story to tell

Sad sad news to hear this. Bill was the coach legend of the hurdles and of the announcers throughout the county. He will leave a void that will be impossible fill. His commitment, passion and love of track and field was what got so many to love and be involved in the sport.

I'm going to miss Mr Whistlecroft a lot. Without his coaching, help, stories (of which most I can't mention) and humour there will be a big gap at the club :(

For those who don't know Bill was an amazing coach and supported me when I started to coach hurdles plus so many other coaches and athletes in the sw. He was the voice of the English Schools and SW champs plus lots of other events. He was a tutor for coach education and helped to develop and deliver our coach education programme especially in the sw. There is prob so much more but he was such a lovely amazing person and will be so missed!!!!
