Early Start - Parent/Guardian of Incoming Freshman Student:Due to high interest, District 218 will be running a second session of the Early Start Program. Early Start is a summer program for students who have graduated from eighth grade and want a preview of key skills important for high school success. The purpose of the program is to provide a smooth transition into high school by building student sub-skills within the four core content areas: English, Math, Science, Social Studies with a STEAM elective. Students have the opportunity to earn a ½ elective credit called “Personal Development Skills” if they do the following: attend the program daily, pass all of their classes first semester, volunteer for one major school event or join and participate regularly in a club/activity/sport. Students must complete ALL requirements to receive the ½ elective credit.
The second session for the Early Start Program session will be held at Shepard High School, 13049 S. Ridgeland, Palos Heights for ALL District 218 Incoming Freshmen. Early Start will run from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., July 3rd,5th , 6th , 7th ,10th-13th, and 17th-20th. I encourage you to enroll your incoming freshman by registering online at: Shepard.chsd218.org > Parents/Community > Incoming Freshmen > Early Start.
