Facebook Page Assignment
Purpose: To analyze the personality of one of the characters we have read about so far this year.
Form: Using the template, you should create a Facebook profile for one of the main characters in one of the stories we have read so far this year. Your profile should include a cover photo, a profile picture, an About Me section that tells more about your character, a current status and three old statuses, and three other elements from the list below. In an attached paragraph, you should explain each of the elements of your character’s profile and give text evidence to defend your choices.
Focus Correction Areas:
Content: Your Facebook page includes each of the ten elementsand they fit your character (5 each; 50 points)
Your paragraph uses direct text evidenceto explain why you included each element (2 each; 20 points)
Organization:Your paragraphis organized logically (5 points)
Style:Your Facebook writing style follows the character’s personality (5 points)
Your paragraph shows mature word choice by avoiding slang and other weak vocabulary. (5 points)
Conventions:All words should be capitalized correctly. (-2 each error up to 5)

All sentences should be punctuated correctly (-2 each error up to 5)
Procedure:
- Choose one of the characters we have read about this year.
- Create that character’s Facebook page using the template. Be sure that all of your choices are supported by text evidence. Include the following:
- Cover photo (should demonstrate some aspect of your character’s personality)
- Profile picture (must follow the description of your character given in the text)
- About Section: can include- Name, birthday, gender, relationship status, education, work, family, favorite quote, political views, favorite books or music, etc.
- Current status: describingthe final events in the story as well as your character’s reaction to them
- Threeold statuses: statuses describingearlier events in the story and your character’s reaction to them
- Choose 3 of the following categories to put on the left side of your page: pages they like, groups they belong to, friends, photos, places they've checked in, apps, interests.
- Using the text, find evidence for each element of your Facebook page.
- Write a paragraph explaining all of your choices. Use quotes from the texts:
- Explain what you put for each element (cover photo, profile picture, About Me detail, etc.)
- Copy the quote exactly and put it in quotation marks, or summarize it in your own words if it’s lengthy.
- After each quote, explain in detail how it proves your character would have that on his/her Facebook.
- End your paragraph with a statement thatsummarizes your conclusions about your character’s personality.
- Read your draft for sentence variety and word choice. Revise as necessary.
- Proofread your work for any spelling and capitalization mistakes.
- Use the rubric on the back of this sheet to grade yourself.
- Staple this sheet to the back of your paragraph and turn it in on ______.
