MISSION

The mission of Parents and Friends of Children and Adults, Inc. is to operate a facility that

provides affordable lodging in a homelike setting for cancer patients and parents of premature infants being cared for at the UAMS Medical Center and to provide a cancersupport center where education, fellowship and nurturing can take place in a supportiveatmosphere.

WHO CAN STAY

Cancer patients receiving out-patient treatment at the Cancer Institute and who live outside a 50-mile radius of Little Rock and Neo-natal parents must have a baby in the intensive care unit at UAMS or Arkansas Children’s Hospital

ALL GUESTS MUST BE REFERRED BY THE SOCIAL WORKERS AT THE CANCER

INSTITUTE OR THE NEO-NATAL UNIT

COST TO STAY

$10.00 per night

FUNDING

We are entirely dependent on donations and our fundraisers - The Family Home Golf Classic and an Afternoon of Wine and Roses in the spring and the Tiny Hands Monster Bash in the fall.

ONGOING BRICK PAVER PROJECT

$100 per brick which can be inscribed in honor or memory of someone

STATISTICS

Since we opened in 2003 we have lodged well over 4,200 Cancer patients, their caregivers, and parents of babies in the NICU. We have had almost 800 babies born to these parents including more than 54 sets of twins and 9 sets of triplets.

We have had patients from over 33 states and several foreign countries, including Bangladesh, Trinidad, Uzbekistan and Zimbabwe. In 2017 we lodged over 125 families for over 3,100 room nights, saving them over $430,000!

The Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Auxiliary Cancer Support Center housed in the UAMS Family Home hosts support groups, activities and entertainment for patients in the house and cancer patients in the metropolitan area. The Serenity Garden, just off the Cancer Support Center, is a haven for patients and caregivers to enjoy the healing powers of nature.
