F.H. COLLINS SUBSTANCE FREE GRAD COMMITTEE (SOCIETY)
Meeting held: 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 7, 2017, @ F.H. Collins.
In attendance: Michael Toews, Jillian Hardie, Tony Gaw, Kurt Dieckmann, Vivian Bales, Tamara Klym
Meeting started by Kurt at 5:30 p.m.
Review of Minutes of previous meeting. Minutes were missing who put the motion forward re: New Lighting System, this was edited to add that Jillian put forward the motion.
Treasurer’s Report
- Tony attended at Bank of Montreal and started process for signatory changes.
Ford Drive One Event
- Event has been soft booked by Corry pending final approvals by Ford
- Discussions on how to attract drivers/effective marketing, minimum of 10 adults plus student volunteers, time frame of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Ford provides tent & barbeque items (food), possibility of carwash and/or bake sale.
Seniors’ Dinner December 9, 2017
- Letters delivered by hand, email and mail by Shannon.
- Shannon to follow up with phone calls by November 17th.
- Kurt initiated contact with Garry Hewitt of the Elks and Jim Wetalski (sp?) of the Lions, however, has been unable to speak with. Another point of contact is Barb Evans.
- Items to confirm: who purchases the Crème de Menthe; what time do doors open and what time should everyone by out by; entertainment.
- Mike to begin to rally the students on or about November 25th re: volunteering
Raffle
- No new information
Student Liason
- Check in with student committee to see if student liasons interested in attending upcoming grad committee (adult) meetings.
Prom & After Grad
- Tents & Events – has been soft booked pending outcome of student grad decisions.
- Tony to gather student grad committee members to visit Tents & Events in order to get an idea of what is available and review their options.
Update on Lights
- Order placed, possible shipping and receipt of lighting system by November 30th.
- Mike to check with F.H. Student Council re: possibility of assisting with costs involved.
- Need a stand made to house lights and system, Jillian to look into local options.
Review of Bylaws
- Deferred to next meeting.
New Business
Ecole Emilie-Tremblay
- Request by EET grads to join F.H. Collins grand march, prom and aftergrad was presented and discussed.
- Included in discussion was the idea of inviting an EET grad parent to attend committee meetings as a non-voting member.
- Upon discussion and agreement to include EET by grad students, motion made by Tony include EET parents and students as volunteers and seconded by Tamara.
Old Minutes (2016)
- Tarama to print last year’s meeting minutes.
- Mike to remove from F.H. Collins website on Thursday, November 16th.
