ON

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

SOFTWARE

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This report is a study of the feasibility of extra –curricular activities software. This software will make major improvements in performance ,as well as it would be cost efficient for the management committee. It will be a web base software so online registration and time to time updation of important information will be possible. Many students can access the same information at same time and from anywhere .it will use dotnet language to build software. It would be using touchscreen system. It will work on next generation processors and graphics, high speed thunderbolt input, output technology which would run on latest dual and quad-core intel-core processors. It will be a visual language based system for efficient management of software development process. Edunext softwares would be employed for better understanding of students by using new hiclass H.2, High class V, High class Plus. Efficient memory recovery system would be installed, Norton GhostTM14.0 is best for this purpose. It protects the computer with advance backup and recovery. Restores system from failures and saves recovery points to offsite locations. There would be support for printers.

The feasibility study undertaken supports these recommendations for the following reasons:

·  The solution meets all the mandatory requirements and has most of the desired features.

·  Implementation is possible within the identified constraints.

·  The new system is deliverable within given time frame.

·  The solution will not contain any unnecessary functionality.

INTRODUCTION

This project is meant for managing co-curricular activities. The secondary objective is to successfully appeal to broad range of audience and to provide better environment to user. It will be a web based software, time to time updation of important information , online registration will be possible. It would display complete list of events , mention proper date and time of event commencement. Contact information of respective teachers and head co-ordinators of each event would be maintained in database. Their time of availability at campus would be updated regularly. Separate login id for co-ordinators and participants would be there. Result of each participant would be displayed at their respective login id. List of sponsors would be displayed. This software would be used by teaching staff , administrators, students of same college and also of other colleges. Its constraints are that only those students of other colleges should be given login id who are participating in any event since memory of database is limited. Cash withdrawn/deposited in institution trust and list of financial expenditure incurred for buying equipment required for various events would be visible to everyone. Registration forms must be available.

BACKGROUND

Earlier system was not web based system so dealing with many students at a time was not possible. There was less functionality and was less user friendly. The systems developed at other places have got sensors , i.e. account is login with the help of biometric card and there is no need of providing login id , also they have got online councellors 24*7 who would answer the queries of user.Ghost software is there which provides efficient recovery of memory. At some places ther is U.M.S system.

ALTERNATIVES

·  There should be online councellor 24*7 who would answer the queries of the user.

·  Administration should be given a separate login id and information about cash withdrawn / deposited in institution trust and list of financial expenditure incurred for buying equipment should be accessed by only them.

·  If there is unauthorized access than complete system should shut down.

·  There could be sensors i.e. account could be login with the help of biometric card and there is no need of providing login id.

·  Edunext softwares could be employed for better understanding of students.

·  Norton GhostTM14.0 could be used for efficient memory recovery of the system.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

It will use dotnet language to build software. It will be requiring 24*7 web facility.

COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS

Since a visual language based system is used ,so it is efficiently managed and hence management cost is reduced.Further the new generation CASE tools are successful in terms of usability as well as productivity , therefore effort is reduced and hence cost is reduced. But since the functionality is increased and new technologies such as thunderbolt input and output technologies, latest dual and quad-core intel core processor is used so cost has been increased.

Cost of some of the hardwares and softwares are …..

·  Dual and quad core processor $1500

·  Biometric card reader $200

·  Thunderbolt input /output tech $300

·  Norton ghostTM14.0 $20

TECHNICAL RISKS

Various techniques like Brainstorming can be used to evaluate risk factors

Various risks that may be involved in our project are listed below:

·  There could be failure of database system so complete backup of system should be provided.

·  Since it is a web based software , so if internet is not available 24*7 it would result in failure of system.

·  Unauthorized access will result in system shut down and uncertain shut down might result in some problems.

·  Unavailability of adequate testing facilities.

·  Turnover of essential personnel.

·  Unachievable performance requirements.

·  Lacking of training on new technologies.
