Assistant Principal / Head Teacher Coach Mentor, Positive Behaviour for Learning

Expressions of interest are invited from suitable candidates for the position of Assistant Principal / Head Teacher Coach Mentor, Positive Behaviour for Learning for a period up to 29 January 2019. The AP/HT Coach Mentor, PBL will facilitate the implementation of Positive Behaviour for Learning in NSW public schools to assist schools and coaches to support the wellbeing of all students through the development and delivery of professional learning and training events.

Locations

The 17 positions are located in various sites across the four Operational Directorates. There are 5 positions in Macquarie Park, 3 in Wagga Wagga, 6 in Ultimo and 3 in Tamworth. Please indicate the area/s you would prefer to be located on the Work Locations Nomination form.

Application Details

An expression of interest addressing the selection criteria below, the Application Form with two referees and the Work Locations Nomination form should be submitted to by 5pm on 3 March 2017.One of the referees listed must be the applicant’s current principal (or supervisor for non-school-based staff). Expressions of interest must not exceed five A4 pages and require the signature and support of the applicant’s current principal or supervisor.

Note: Successful applicants will retain right of return to their substantive school and position for a maximum continuous period of three years only.

Statement of duties

  • Working collaboratively within the PBL team to facilitate PBL implementation across and within networks of schools.
  • Contributing to the development and revision of state-wide school and coach training for the universal, targeted and intensive individualised tiers of the PBL framework.
  • Delivering school training across each tier of the PBL continuum across networks of schools.
  • Developing and delivering professional learning activities for a range of audiences including newly appointed executive, personnel interested in becoming a PBL coach, schools interested in implementing PBL, and School Administrative and Support Staff.
  • Mentoring coaches to build their coaching expertise and capabilities to apply the PBL framework in their role.
  • Supporting schools to use evaluation tools to assist in identifying strengths and opportunities for growth in the implementation of the PBL process.
  • Supporting PBL coach and school networks and facilitating school showcasing events.

Specific Selection criteria

  • Demonstrated knowledge of whole school systems approaches and current research in Positive Behaviour for Learning and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, organisational and management skills to provide professional support to a range of personnel including schools and coaches.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to enhance the capacity of the school to implement the Positive Behaviour for Learning framework.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to relevant policies, state based initiatives and curriculum support documents, including an understanding of disability legislation.
  • Current driver's licence and ability to travel between worksites.

General Selection Criteria

  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal education policies.
