Six month Mentoring Program 2012

For the African Leadership Development Program (African Think Tank)

The African Think Tank hosted the first African Leadership Development Program (ALDP) in 2010 with 27 successful graduates completing the program. Each participant was matched with a mentor from Leadership Victoria. This component of the program was highly valued by participants, with many stating in the external evaluation of the program that these relationships were extremely valuable and a highlight of the program for them. Many of the mentors and mentees in 2010 still keep in touch with one another.

In 2011, more than 130 people participated in a series of Leadership Seminars discussing aspects of Leadership in African Australian communities.

In 2012, the African Community Leadership Program, hosted by ATT, will be running a 4 month program (July to October) that will seek to build the capacity of African community associations through improved organisational governance, coordination, communication with government and the community, and leadership. The 2012 program is funded by the State Government and the R.E Ross Trust.

This year LV is also supporting the program through the provision of a 6 month mentoring program that will involve matching an LV Alumnus with a participant in the program. The program will run from July – December 2012. I am now seeking Expressions of Interest from Alumni to be a part of this rewarding and interesting program.

The mentoring program will be fully supported by Leadership Victoria and LV coordinators, with additional training, support and advice provided throughout the program by ATT and LV and other experts in mentoring.

Please note the first session of the program will be held on Saturday 7 July and all mentors will be invited to meet their mentees on this day and attend a session on mentoring. It is not essential, but highly desirable, that you are able to attend.

Please complete the Expression of Interest form and forward to Sunita Varlamos at Leadership Victoria, by email by close of business Thursday 31 May 2012. If you have any questions please contact Sunita Varlamos at LV on 03 9651 6593.
