PART I – FUNDING OPPORTUNITY PROPOSAL DESCRIPTION
During the 83rd Texas Legislative session, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service was awarded special initiative funds to help support and enhance educational outreach in the area of workforce and career development targeting youth audiences. The purpose of this RFP is to provide information and instructions for Extension employees to apply for funds to support county, multi-county, district, regional, or state wide programming efforts in the areas of workforce development and/or career development.
PART II – AWARD INFORMATION
- Available funding
For the 2014 RRP cycle, there will be a total of $34,000 available to fund up to five (5) competitive grants at the amount of $5,000 each funded for state, regional, district, or multi-county programming efforts and an additional six (6) projects at the amount of $1,500 each for county level programming efforts. - Eligible applicants
Any Texas A&M AgriLife Extension professional employee who is currently conducting, or wishing to expand programming efforts, in the areas of either youth workforce development or career development (see definitions, Part IV). Educational focus must be towards youth in middle, junior, or high school.
- Deadline for submitting proposal
All applications must be submitted via e-mail to Dr. Toby Lepley at by Wednesday, February 19, 2014 by 5:00 pm central. No late or incomplete proposals will be considered.
- Program implementation period
All educational programming efforts funded must take place between March 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014.
- Program reporting and evaluation
All funded proposals will be required to conduct project reporting (fiscal and program), as well as use an evaluation with both standardized program questions and custom project focused questions. - Use of funds
Funds will be administered through the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and must adhere to all fiscal guidelines regarding use of state funds. These funds can be used for educational resources related to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service business. Examples include - computers, calculators, professional development, travel, digital cameras, printers, and resource materials. The funds may not be used for professional membership dues, awards, plaques, sales tax, food or refreshments. Prior to incurring an expense, the agent/specialist will work with the District Office/state office for purchasing guidelines and to ensure that state purchasing procedures are followed.

c.Description of target audience and potential number involved
d.Program/Project design/implementation plan
e.Outcome Measures
- Key Persons/Collaborators Involved (1/2 page maximum)
List all key Extension persons and their roles involved in project/program as well as any collaborating individuals, groups,
organizations outside of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. - Budget (1/2 page maximum)
Provide a budget, including estimates and description of how funds will be used. Please be detailed with explanations.
PART IV - DEFINITIONS
Workforce Development: career development that is directed to a targeted field. Standards and criteria are identified and outlined. Includes internships and apprenticeships.
Career Development: developing youth to a career (i.e. character, values, communication, time management, etc).
