From Saturday 30th July

Exhibitions – “Sixty Years of Carnival” by Bill Wickings, President of HastingsOldTown Carnival Association and“Some Lost Roads of Hastings and St Leonards” – an OHPS exhibition back by popular request. This looks at some of the streets and buildings that were ‘cleared’ during the 1920s, 1930s and after the war. This ‘slum clearance’ was not confined to HastingsOldTown.

Monday 1st August

2pm Walk

Exploring the Lost Roads of the OldTown walk - Meet at Hastings History House.

The OldTown lost roads, twittens and rows when the “slum” clearances began which ultimately paved the way for the A259 to drive its way through the heart of the community. This walk looks at the traces of these that can still be seen in the OldTown today. Tickets £4 from Hastings History House.

Tuesday 2nd August

10.30 am Walk with John Shirlaw “Exploring the Architecture of Hill Street and The Croft” starts with an introduction in Hastings History House, 21 Courthouse Street. Tickets £4 from Hastings History House..

Wednesday 3rd August

11am to1pm Coffee Morning - enjoy a coffee and browse our exhibitions and don’t miss the chance to play Linco Lingo with Bruce Nichol. Entertaining, informative and with a chance to win cash prizes – this years subjects ‘Hastings Celebrities of the Past’ and ‘Piers of the World’.

Walk - A literary and Artistic stroll over the East Hill and down High Wickham. Meet at lowerstation of East Hill Cliff Railway but please purchase your tickets first from Hastings History House.

Tickets £5 include a ride up the East Hill, donations for refreshments please if taken.

Thursday 4thAugust

10am Walk “Dandies and Dragoons”

Meet at Hastings History House. Hastings was an exciting place to be during the Napoleonic wars, and Hastings was then the OldTown. Tickets £4.

Friday 5thAugust

12 noon to 2.30pm Cheese and Wine Lunch

Local cheeses from Penbuckles and fine wines. Great value at £6. Organised by the Old Hastings Preservation Society.
