“Opportunities to Serve on the Board of Registration of Nursing Home Administrators”

The Division of Health Professions Licensure would like your assistance in identifying qualified individuals who are interested in seeking appointment to the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Nursing Home Administrators (the Board). We are seeking candidates for licensed Nursing Home Administrator, Educator Actively Engaged in Health Care Administration, licensed Physician, and Public Members positions on the Board. The mission of the Board is to lead in the protection of the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the Commonwealth through the fair and consistent application of the statutes and regulations governing the practice of nursing home administrators. The Board issues licenses to qualified individuals, authorizes qualified candidates to practice in Administrator-in-Training roles, approves continuing education programs, and adopts and enforces regulations it deems necessary for the protection of the public health, safety and welfare through the investigation of complaints.

Board members must be residents of the Commonwealth and are appointed by the Governor to serve a term of three (3) years. All nursing home administrator candidates must be currently licensed and have at least five (5) years of experience as a licensed nursing home administrator.

We would appreciate hearing from candidates who:

·  Represent the geographic, racial, ethnic and gender diversity of the Commonwealth;

·  Are free of bias that might impair the fair and responsible implementation of the duties and responsibilities of the Board;

·  Can commit sufficient volunteer time to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of Board membership; the Board schedule is available at www.mass.gov/dph/boards

·  Demonstrate a commitment to integration of patient safety and medical error reduction into the mission, mandates, and activities of the Board.

If you or someone you know is interested in serving as a volunteer Board member, please send a resume and cover letter to: Jean Pontikas, Director, Division of Health Professions Licensure, 239 Causeway St., Boston, MA 02114, by email to or by fax to 617-973-0983.

Sincerely,

Jean Pontikas
