Detailed information (date and location) regarding the entrance exam will be sent via postal letter and e-mail.

The practical exam round includes two turns which will take place in two different occasions.

EXAM TURN #1 - Handing in portfolio, CV, and cover letter.

1. Portfolio

The portfolio is a selection of your previously created artworks. Apart from works directly related to animation we also accept items that demonstrate your skills in other areas of visual arts. We prefer to receive digital formats unless you find it necessary to present your artworksin original (drawing, comic strip, painting, photograph, print etc). In the latter case please hand in your original artworks in a sealable folder.

Digital artworks should be submitted on DVD discs (2 copies) as data files. The DVD cover should follow our uniform template (find it on our website at the URL below)

Please include a short Word document (doc format) on the DVD in which you describe the concept of the artworks you submitted.

Avoid non-Latin (accented) characters in any of the file name you use.

The extent of the portfolio is not limited, however, it should be clear and well structured.

2. CV including your portrait

3. Cover letter describing your motivation to join METU, a maximum of one A4 page.

Technical requirements regarding your portfolio:

Digital images:in widely used formats like JPG, PNG or TIF

Movie files:in widely used formats like MOV, WMV, MP4, or MPEG

We do not accept any project files of authoring softwares.

Highest possible score: 100 points

Further submission documents

  1. A statement in pdf format, in which you declare that all submitted artworks are your own creations, or if you have worked in team, please mention exactly your contribution to the project.
  2. DVD cover templates.
    Statement and templates may be downloaded from our website.
  3. Proof of payment of the exam fee when you hand in your portfolio. A photocopy of the bank transfer record is also accepted. Don’t forget to bring your ID, passport, or driver’s license.

The results of the first round of the entrance exam will be published on our website. The list of results will not include any names but personal codes of the applicants.

The date and location of the second round will also be posted here.

Keep in mind that both copies of the DVD and the documents that you submit in the first exam round will be owned by the university, and will not be returned.

EXAM TURN #2 - Interview

The personal interview will include a discussion about your submitted portfolio as well as about your experience, motivation and future goals in the field of animation and visual arts. You may also present some supplementary artwork, other than submitted in the portfolio.

Highest possible score: 100 points

The schedule of the interviews may be subject to minor changes. Therefore please make sure you are prepared for possibly extended waiting times.
