Languagereview:

Present perfect: it’s used to talk about an action that started in the past and you don’t know when it is going to end.

Example: I have lived in Calama. She has worked here.

How do we form PresentPerfect? We need the verb have / has + past participle form of the verbs.

USE OF SINCE AND FOR

“SINCE” IS USED TO INDICATE WHEN AN ACTION STARTED, A POINT IN TIME.

I HAVE LIVED IN CALAMA SINCE I GOT MARRIED.

“FOR” IS USED TO INDICATE A PERIOD OF TIME.

I HAVE LIVED IN CALAMA FOR 15 YEARS.

MODALS

MUST - HAVE TO – NEED TO – MAY – MIGHT

Must – have to = obligation.

Must = it’s a law.

Need to = necessity

May – Might = possibility

May = when something is likely to happen.

Might = when something is rather less probable to happen.
